Just wondering why in your view that internet dating = pathetic, I mean we pay our bills online, we watch movies online, you order food online, you socialize online through forums and social network sites like myspace, you run business online, you can say we basically live online so how is dating online any different?

If you want a real friend or finding love you'll be very disappointed... it's about selling or buying sexual favours.
