I am wanting to know if it is illegal to own and operate a warez linking site?
I am located in the UK and am not sure on this,

Its not illegal to host links, just host ur site on a offshore server and your be good.

I myself have a warez forum..

 

warez site wouldnt bring much traffic

 

Warez sites are the one that bring most traffic , A good forum with around 15-20K members will get around 10K uniques a day.. Most forums have always 600-700 users online.

 

Get an offshore host that allows warez linking. What this means is that you are only linking to sites like rapidshare and stuff. You can't actually upload any copyright file onto your server for others to download.

 

Indeed with US/UK hosting your warez sites are most likely to be banned. Offshore server is a solution but less reliable comparing US/UK servers. Despite that such type of sites could bring in traffic I do not know how it could turned into valuable clicks with advertising companies obviously blocking those sites.

How much are you looking at paying for offshore hosting? I imagine it must be big money in comparison to regular hosting.

Well warez sites are pretty lame actually. I used to have one. Warez sites are like filled with zombies which post, report and do it again. Its like a cycle. No real discussions. Only copy/pasting.

And there are tons of warez forums out there already. Bigger and better ones. Too much competition.

 

I run a warez site out of the neterhlands and I havent had a problem. Warez sites are like weed in the drug war, no one really cars until you're a "big name".

PottingNoob, there are other legal issues you should be considering besides a warez linking site.

 

i got offshore servers for my site with 100gb bandwith and 10gb space for $2 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and they allow Warez HOSTING! and LINKING!!

It doesn't matter where you commit your crime, as a citizen of the UK, you are still liable under local laws. You may not be caught if you own an off shore server, but you are still committing a crime in the U.K.
