Message from Google - Says site is not compliant

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by andyj00, Apr 8, 2008.

Google raised an issue with my site (in sig)......

.......While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. ......

However, they dont state what is actually wrong with my site! They just tell you a lot of common Adsense guidlines. I emailed them back asking what the problem is and got an auto response which was less helpful that the first one.

I can only assume that due to the issues highlighted in this thread that they dont like the blending in?

    What do people think?

    They then said:
.....As a result, we have disabled ad serving to the site......

Yet my site still shows ads????!!?! Whats going on? Should it show ads or not if they supposed to have disabled ad serving? I havent had any clicks today (although traffic is low) so dont know what is going on.

    Please help?!!

    Cheers.
    Andy

    Yes it is.
I was afraid they will show but not get any clicks. Do you mean my account will be disabled in a week if I dont fix it?

It may be from where you placed the adsense under Your wireless resource giving a wrong impression.

They have 2 headings that they are ok with to be displayed above adsense, everything else they dont like.

I did have a Link Unit immediatly below the banner but I changed it last night to how it is now. I read somewhere else that Google has a problem with ads that may appear like site navigation.

Think I'm going to change the ad text colour to back - so they dont blend in as much and email them back to ask them what the problem is.

I think you could be right. Have a read of this http://adsense.blogspot.com/2008/03/another-look-at-optimizations.html.
    It states:

    1. Ads shouldn't be placed under a title or section heading in a way that implies that the ads are not ads. (I did have a Link Unit which looks like navigation just below the banner)

    2. Ads should be easily distinguishable from surrounding content.
As you say, my ads are well blended in (which I assume you could do - now apparently not).

So looks like I'm breaking the rules a bit (unknowingly).:(

You can only put "sponsored links" and some other approved titles on top of your ads. The "Your wireless resource" one isn't legit.

Although there an no ads on your site now, i can imagine how the ads would have been. Such blending is against TOS. Ads should not appear to be part of site navigation. The ad unit on the left side would have been a perfect case of "against TOS" blending.
Adsense had recently written an article in their blog on this

    Thanks guys.
Another question, when I log into Adsense, there is no indication or no message to say that there are issues with my account? I would expect a red flag/text or something when logging in but there is nothing. Should there be?

I have started a new site and I have a large rectangle under the title for each page. But they aren't blended at all. The title is on top and the adsense is under. I do the same for the bottom of each page. I just like the way that two large rectangles frame each page.

    Is this against the TOS?

Wow man this is getting crazy !
All the rules etc.. Hell you don't even know if you're ok anymore ! Even tho you do all you can to respect their terms !

Nothing will surprise me anymore. I just hope that they will contact me first so i modify the stuff that they don't like (if any) as like i said, i'm pretty sure i'm ok but holly crap this is getting out of hands don't you think ? I know they must follow strick rules because of cheaters.
