Hi everyone... I may have to change hosts shortly and I would like those with medium to large sized forums to recommend a host that understands the needs of forum owners. Am specifically looking for a high level VPS but am interested in feedback from those on dedicated too. Thanks!
I'm not looking for a virtual account... I need a high level VPS with a host that understands the needs of forum owners. mad4: U.S. is fine.
don use hostgator if your forum use many resources, they will suspend your account. i recommend u use vps or dedicated server, try powervps.com if wan vps
I have no personal experience with them, but have heard good things about http://www.servint.net for VPS purposes
I use LiquidWeb for a managed dedicated server and I have been extremely happy with their service and customer care. Take a look at their VPS products here: http://liquidweb.com/shared/vps.htm or their dedicated hosting here: http://www.liquidweb.com/dedicated/configure/ (if you end up using them, let 'em know fsmedia sent ya )
I think it's safe to assume he means CPU and memory usage. Bandwidth is never an issue for hosting providers. If someone uses their alotted amount, a host would simply suspend the account for bandwidth overages instead of for CPU activity.
Yeah, and CPU usage is even more of an issue with forums than most other websites....forums use very little bandwidth in relation to CPU usage. This is, of course, unless they offer big downloads, arcade games, etc.
