I just signed up for a hosting plan that I am using for a local directory service. The hosting icludes 10000mb of bandwidth. I am not using much images or pics and no downloads. I am bandwidth stupid, so can anyone tell me what I can expect from a 20 page simple text site (no php or flash) with a few pictures as far as how much traffic it can handle?
Geez that was quick! Thanks for the quick reply. I felt stupid asking but bandwidth really confuses me.
bandwidth is actually like a disk space, but it's not static, which means it's used, then it's removed. If someone goes to your website and check a 25 kb webpage, he has used 25 kb of your bandwidth. Say your pages are all 25 kb, you'd get 10 000 mb x 1.024 (because it's 1024 mb in reality) x 1024 (1024 kb per mb) = 10 485 760 kb then divide that by 25 kb (this will give you the number of pageview you can get for that bandwidth) which would be equal to 419 430. So you can get people to see your pages ~420 thousand time. That's a lot. Divide that by 30 and you get your daily page view => 13 981. I hope your website is getting enough daily hit to reach 10 000 pageview per day, anyway, you're still safe.
