I was wondering if my pagerank would go down if I hosted my Blogger blog on a new domain name? Does it go down, because pagerank is the measure of links to a certain URL, or does it stay the same, because Google knows it's the same website with a new domain?
Dang. What if you have the domain redirect to the Blogger site? Then, does a link to that domain count as a link towards the Blogger site, or does the redirect page have a separate pagerank?
I had a lot of content and when I changed names and started from scratch it sucks because I was prN/A for about 3 months. On the 5th month all that content finally delivered a pr4. It will take a little time but everyone has to start from nothing. Well I am not speaking about dropped domains because I think they a bit different.
it will surely changed... i think the basis is the Domain name... if you changed it, it will definitely go back to unranked
If you do a 301 redirect to each post, your traffic should remain steady even though your PR will take some time to adjust. At least, this was my experience switching domains. However, I'm not sure if you can do a 301 redirect from a Blogger blog.
Yep a 301 redirect is definately the best option, you should only loose 1 or 2 page ranks temporarily before it goes back up, maybe not even that. Google and all other search engines will see and treat your files under the new domain name exactly the same next time they cache your pages.
You will lose your page rank. Google gives importance to the domain name. If a domain name is different it is a different site in google's eyes.
