I would like to submit my business blog to DMOZ, but I first would like to get the category correct so the submission doesn't get thrown out. Where would you recommend I submit my site? my site is eBusiness Journal All help is appreciated.
Does your blog cover all aspects of the business community, or a more specific industry? (such as advertising, web design, search engine placement, etc.) If you blog is primarily as a resource for businesses, I would suggest http://dmoz.org/Business/Resources . We currently do not have an specific subcategory in /Resources for blogs (sometimes listed in the directory as weblogs).
It's a blog dedicated to all eBusiness topics such as search engines, branding, marketing, seo, etc. Do you happen to be an editor?
Since it seems to be mostly website development and marketing, may I suggest http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Weblogs/? Current descriptions are like: --Bill Hartzer offers website marketing news, resources, and tips. --Barry Welford's weblog on internet marketing and business from a global perspective. --Diane Vigil writes about web design, search engines and internet marketing. This looks like a better fit, IMO.
not to worry, an editor will move it for you if it belongs in a different category. That happens quite often.
Hi , just on this.. Does anyone have an idea how long it takes to get listed in DMOZ? I submitted incorrectly last week and then again this week.. Not sure if Im getting the Category correct either.. My site is related to Internet Marketing but im not necessarily offering a service.. Just a rant really Cheers! Sparks
Anywhere from a day to several years. Totally unpredictable. In some categories, reviews may be very fast, others may be extremely slow. But that also changes over time. So a category that gets fast reviews this month, may slow to a crawl next month. Even an editor that actively reviews in a specific category cannot predict when a pariculat site will be reviewed.
Ok whoever gave me +ve reputation for my post thanks, too bad user didnt mention his userid else i would have paid back, after all i am paid hosting . And any luck yet or you still waiting for dmoz bots to come to your site. Put some "she bots" on your site and see your site reach the 'outer limits" on google and on dmoz also .
My site is still pending, last update was April 17th and I submitted around the 20th of April *Crossing my fingers*
how do you check for pending status, cause i would like to see whats the status of my application also.
You don't, unless a sympathetic editor decides to inform you. It may be still pending. Or it may have been already rejected. The only thing normally you will know for sure is whether or not it is listed.
