Something that grinds my gears.

I see a million topics (exaggeration of course) in the Freebies section that have this line or a variant in them: "Just post 'PM Me' if you are interested in this great offer!"

Basically they're asking people to post "+1 Post count for me!" in a perpetually updating topic that is full of spam. Honestly, if you wanted to do something and have people interested - ASK them to PM YOU. I.E. instead of asking them to BUMP THE THREAD with USELESS posts - just say "PM me with the title of the thread if you are interested".

But no. People want the stupid bumps I guess. I view it as a cheap underhanded way of getting a thread bumped forever. Isn't this stuff against the rules? Thread bumping with useless "PM me!" posts?

If I am wrong, tell me. But if I am right - does this mean I can report every single topic I find that does this? It's really the blame of the OPs who request it, than the people who reply to it. Therefore they should be the ones strung up, and not the people who reply blindly really.

    /Rant

I agree with you, freebie section is rubbish now, everyone just claiming they can make lots of money, all they do is send you a referral link and make you sign up to all these things.

But lately 9 times out of 10 when the OP does write "PM me for more info" no-one reads it and they all end up writing "PM me"

I've started ignoring people who can't take the time to read the actual thread.

However, it is the fault of everyone who has said to post that they want to be PMed. You stop that, then enforce the bumping policy, and people will learn within the month. It will stop mass spam, and save database resources.

This is the same as the sites/link sales forum. DP needs a request for more info type of plugin/mod installing that can rectify this situation.

I agree, report them. It's a form of semi-automated bumping if you ask me.

Those people can get an infraction though. If they don't read the original post, and they make useless posts, they get an infraction and the post deleted (at least that's what I do when I see them - of course I don't go around checking every freebies thread for it either though).

But I completely agree - those kinds of post do nothing but encourage bumping. And we're already discussing this issue, so it's not as though it's been going unnoticed.

Or what is just as annoying is those who post saying that they pm'd the OP. C'mon there is no need to post that you pm'd the OP if that was what the OP wanted you to do in the first place.

That's why they already get infractions for those "PM sent" posts. ;) Obviously we can't go around searching for them all, but we do get rid of a lot of them. When you see one, report it.

There should be a "Report Squad" that patrols and scours for any posts starting the day of the squad's founding that will just totally crack down on it.
