Google’s page rank and why I consider it to be useless and outdated. Page rank or PR for short is calculated by your links on other pages and the importance of those pages.

Unfortunately PR has been far too easy to cheat until recently simply by using a 302 redirect you where able to get PR0 pages with high PR`s. This was then used to sell links to lower ranking websites and effectively game the system.

Google already knows. They just leave it for DP to get a hardon over. Seriously, as long as everyone is distracted with PR, they're not doing REAL seo.

No,I think Pr is important as before, as it not only regards links, I think it regards the content's quality too.

Who said anything about being distracted by PR? Its the primary element of Google's algorithm so of course it matters! People get more upset by losing PR and more excited by gaining it because it does matter if you like getting traffic from organic search results.

People can jump up and down and scream about PR not mattering all they want, but its still the basis upon which Google's success was built and upon which your "quality" content is ranked. No need for any of us to get emotional about a factual matter.

I think the point is that pagerank ISN'T as important as it WAS in google's algorithm. At one point it was much more important than now, which led to the current link selling, which now google is aware of and the pendulum swings back towards pagerank being not quite as important as it used to be. So is it meaningless? Not entirely, but it's not the gold standard either.

The real thing that matter is the rank in search results. PR don't help in getting a good search result placement.

I am glad I did not waste all my time in the past on PR!

I feel sorry for people who spent hours after hours just for a better PR and it not being as worthy for them any more.

We all are saying PR is useless.But I am sure if anyone opens a thread saying "Free backlinks from PR6,PR7 or PR blah blah.Just post your links here",we all will jump there and will start to post our links.

They need to just sit and re-write and re-do the whole thing. In a "un-cheatable" way... (i.e. don't release any algorithm info)

its not meaningless and that is a fact, when I moved from PR2 to PR4 my taffic went up by 50% - and indexing of my pages is just instantaneous now.

look at it this way, u get allot of backlinks, good SERP = good PR eventually.
