google played with my emotions big time on saturday in a few google datacenters we were ranking me #1 for most keywords and top 3 for all keywords pretty much the same as i am in msn beta So i was happy, thinking we are finally coming out but it all went away by monday back to mid 100's for main keyword searches excpet for #10 for "bodyboarding" purely because it is the keyword i use in the CO-OP network which i just joined about 10 days ago before the CO-OP i was around 180 jumped up with in days but I' still in the sanbox now Co-op is sandbox proof i reckon I wonder how much longer i will be sanboxed. I started SEO in july, no submission to SE's or optimization before then.
that doesn't sound like the sandbox to me, to be honest... if you're able to rank if you throw an appropriate amount of backlinks at it, it isn't the sandbox (and this is basically what you said). you're probably in the sandbox if: your domain is new (roughly less than 6 months old) you rank well in "allinanchor:keyphrase", but not for "keyphrase" there are very, very few terms in which you rank well for.. and they're usually only really obscure and non-competitive ones
wait explain allie anchor to me! i am a rookie thank you i dont know what it is like for keyword bodyboard i am 145 but say for bodyboard shop i am #3 or for bodyboard fins i am #1 and so on with various combos is bodyboard shop an allie anchor? i have 18,500 links on yahoo my domain is almost one year old but i never saw us on any seach engine till september maybe august had no idea what seo was until late july when i got it optimzed about 6 full months ago Ok i typed in "allinanchor:bodyboard" I am #7 but "bodyboard" I am #145 or something so i think i am sanboxed!!
no, allinanchor: shows you how a page on your site ranks in relation to all of the other pages out there in anchor text. So, for allinanchor:bodyboard, there are 6 sites that have more anchor text weight pointing to their pages. You need to get more links on more pages with that anchor text (bodyboard) pointing to the page listed in allinanchor:bodyboard.
Something Big DID go on in Google Starting around Dec. 27th There is a rather large discussion on the topic at SEO Chat... Google showing Big serps movement Many folks reported that sites they had that were "sandboxed" for months seemed to come out and achieve good placement in serps then slowly slip back to oblivian again. I had also reported seeing changes in one pages position starting late December. Google was showing changes almost hourly! Here is a link to the table I have been keeping... Daily Fluctuations Good Luck, Caryl
IMHO the sandbox is a crude explanation for various features of the google algo that are a lot more complex than simply timing a site untill it ranks.
