I just saw the thread .
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=689391

It seems as DigitalPoint doesnt allows users to use refferals in threads , the user has started up a thread and asking people to check the signature which is a REFERRAL .

According to DigitalPoint TOS , referrals arent allowed in threads but user has smartly used them .

I think Digitalpoint should update their TOS to prevent such things .

what the poster has is a tiny url in their signature, which is allowed.
there are no rules saying you cannot make a reference to your signature link,
    maybe there should be?

all my sig links use tiny-url's

I think what he's saying is that he's using a way to "cheat the system". You aren't allowed affiliate links in threads, just in the sigs. So he starts a new thread and says to click his sig affiliate link.

I don't really care. If he wants to do that I think he should be able to. He's not breaking any rules.

What shouldn't be allowed is user names that look so similar to mine.
People might get confused. Have you been getting my PM's?

Every time I see your user name next to a thread, I think I posted there. My eyesight isn't so good.

But the guy in that thread isn't even doing that - he makes no direct mention of his signature link at all. It's no different to me saying I've found something good if you've been banned by AdSense and asking for other people's opinions on it.

    Whoops.

My mistake, I read the OP's post and assumed he was. I've seen people do it before, but in this case he's certainly not. Sorry.

i think affilate/referral links are okay.. because u kinda are referring the members by informing them about the product or site..

you should deserve some sort of reward..

Affiliate links in posts are not allowed. In signatures they are okay but not in posts - it would turn into a giant spam-fest of affiliate links in thousands of posts.
