how to make the background opacity change without the text doing so too

i am trying to make my div's background have a transparency (not 100%) to it..not hard

but when I do so the text goes transparent as well..

basically i need a way to see through the background some but keep the text at full opacity

Sorry, you'll need two containers. The background one is semi-opaque while the top one has the text.

Like this site (which doesn't do anything, it's a placeholder): www.stichtinglevenzonderzorg.com the green at the left. Look at the code.
