This is not only for google, i think all are getting affected from economy crisis now a days.... --Thanks...
How can 'the economy' explain it? It might explain the total number of searches being down (if it is) but why would that affect the % of searches done in google?
I think more people in the US will going online because of the bad economy they are having right now.
The percentage market share can't drop for all search engines. Ultimately the percentage needs to add up to 100%. If Google have lost market share, then it stands to reason that someone else has gained. Having said that a drop of 0.3% is hardly significant bearing in mind Google's dominence. Even if this trend continues for another 12 months, they'll still be streets ahead.
heh..majority of my traffic comes from google and they have been removing millions of results for a lot of keywords my sites rank high in
The economy crisis? I thought searching in Google is free? There are probably about 100 useful sites and they are well known so nobody use Google anymore
It depends on your market. If you're selling products a recession which we're now in here in the US will certainly cut into B2B search volume. Companies are not buying right now. If they're not buying they're not searching. Google Adwords was down 7% in December and was reportedly down in January. Part of it is advertisers pulling back part of it is probably fewer searches. As far as the shares of search volume it's very far from a perfect sampling. Google dominates so a drop in Google overall searches would likely show as a drop in share first, just my opinion. I think it will be more accurately reflected as an overall drop. People aren't going to stop searching for information etc, but people searching for products and services? Certainly that's going to be effected by the current economic situation here in the USA. Quotes below, I really think much of it is just the economy. "The volume of U.S. searches done through Google dropped to 5.86 billion from 6.14 billion in February, and the worldwide volume of searches also declined, comScore said on Wednesday. "We are continuing to see deceleration in growth in Web search," said Jefferies & Co analyst Youssef Squali. "Google's month-over-month 5 percent decline is a little surprising, but all of the major Web search names were down."
I guess it all depends on the market, if there is a need for your product or service you will not be affected by this regardless of the state of the economy.
