Hi, I'm wondering if Google doesn't want you to have 2 accounts that bid on the same keywords, but are sending traffic to completely different websites. I know that you can have clients that are competing against each other in their keywords, but what about having 2 personal accounts that you manage within MCC? Anyone know the official ruling, if they enforce it, or if they even care, if the user experience isn't compromised in any way? The reason I'm wanting to do this is I'm trying to build a credit history for a personal credit card I recently got, and I want to spend several hundred per month on it for a while...
2 accounts with 2 different sites are perfectly ok. lot of people have multiple accounts due to the fact that adwords limits your daily spending. one way to get around is multiple accounts
Yes, but what about driving traffic to sites in similar niches and bidding on similar or even the same keywords?
What exactly do you mean by "separate entities"... Do you mean the websites that the ads point to MUST be owned by different people?
The information you're looking for is here (sorry, I can't post links yet, so you'll have to cut and paste into your browser): adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=8759
As Gus says, the rules are fairly straightforward. Only Client Managers can run multiple accounts, and then only for totally separate businesses.
You cannot have two accounts bidding on the same keywords. It doesn't matter if they're pointing to different websites, it's not allowed and you will be banned when you're caught. They do this so no one person can "own" an unfair share of the ad spots on any given page. You do not have to be a client manager to run multiple accounts either. Anyone can run multiple accounts.
again, not true... you can have 2 or even 100 accounts bidding on the same keywords as long as they are managed by a client manager.
side note; There are cases where a single business can have multiple accounts. One example of this would be when you max one account out (in terms of size) you have to open a second account to keep building.
You can spend $250k a day on adwords per account. I have 2 accounts because one is maxed out on keywords
Ok. So I realize that clients under the MCC can bid on the same keywords. However, if I created another account and use another credit card under my name to fund it, would I get in trouble if I bid on some of the same keywords as my original account??? I can of course see the argument against someone monopolizing the search results, but if the sites are very different that you are sending traffic to, I don't see where the user experience is compromised.
I'm not talking about a client manager, I'm talking about an individual. Your advice is wrong and if people follow what you say they will get banned. Maybe you should try and come back and tell us how fast you got banned.
uhhh, been doing it for years... still not banned... still running multiple accounts too. If you remember the question asked he just wanted to know if it was possible with 2 personal accounts and YES it is provided they are managed under an MCC
