With Google's Matt Cutts doing a writeup of linkbait recently and an older one, it made me think more about it. The real thing always serves as the best example. www.stclaire.com Matt Cutts used this "Technical Communications" site that had a clever sign making section. Ning - PR7 - Create Your Own Social Network for Anything A clever way that allows the user to create their own social network. It reminds me of meetup.com, but that is strictly internet based. Muglo.com PR0 (very new site) - Create your own smiley face for blogs, forums, etc This is similar to the sign making site, but is limited to smiley faces. It has a simple name that is easy to remember.
Nice articles from Mr Google. Here's another example of successful link-baiting for a new blog: 100+ Untapped Link Building Strategies (Find the Hidden Gems...) (as of today, this forum thread has yielded 1,122 replies - including mine - and 20,808 page views).
Link baits are smart things to do, unfortunately it is not easy to know what it will work and what won't work. You can not just create a linkbait. You create something that will work as a link bait, but it depends on how people see it.
Other Example is the Sticky Post in this category i.e Link Building Tips and Resources. I got over 100 good links just because of this article.
Thanks for this useful information about link baiting. but can someone provide examples of link baiting ? with links?
Are videos the same ? I deliberately target niche (Youtube) video galleries with the intent of them indexing my video, I usually target keywords that I think they are indexing from Youtube videos, of course I have my links in the description so that the Youtube gallery includes my link in the sites video descriptions - I understand that the site doesn't have live links for my videos description but it is similar .... isn't it ?
