Mosquitoes - how to get rid of them?

We're having an unusually long summer here, all the frogs have moved away, and the mosquitoes are breeding like crazy. I'm being woken up every hour with a mozzie sucking the blood out of my face...

Anyone got any 'human safe' ways to get rid of these little f:eek:ckers?

Just spray them with insecticide or hire someone to do fogging, that should clear them for quite a while.

Smoke works, like with most insects. They avoid it as much as they can.

Aside from that, I've seen ultrasonic sound emitters at walmart that supposed keeps them away, but I haven't tried it since I have a dog and it would probably torture her.

I agree with Christian Little. Use some smoke, works the best.

Doesn't blue light get rid of them? Don't know what its called exactly but I thought mosquitoes liked the light and get burned once they get too close.

Since when has smoke been human safe? :p
I'm not leaving a mosquito coil going while I'm asleep!

Insecticide isn't an option - I can spray my bedroom, but they just send reinforcements a few hours later.

I've seen those ultrasonic things, but always thought they were a "AS SEEN ON TV" scam. I've got no pets to worry about, so maybe I'll give that a try. Should keep those pesky bats away too :)

I agree with coderbari. Mosquito net is the most human safe way. Smoke and coils pollute the air. Aerosol may not be CFC free and human safe.

Interesting thing is that mosquitoes never pick on me. But I know people with same problem as yours. They are so tired of fighting with them. There is a neighbor who said even if there is only one mosquito in entire city he will pick him. He’s trying with those eclectic stuff.

gaaa, I don't have to worry about mosquitoes for a few more months yet. I go camping/backpacking a lot and hate those little b*stards.

You can very well use mosquito net while sleeping but while sitting before the computer, you can't use it. Use a good and safe mosquito repellent instead :)

I usually use mosquito coils near my bed, the coil also gives off a pleasant aroma.

Strip and rub blood all over your chest. Then wait a few hours.
