Getting banned and re-instated...

Very upset with big G at the moment guys, wanted to make a thread so others can stumble across this in the future if the same thing happens to them..

Have been running googles adsense on a couple of my sites to see how much they will make, all set up exactly within the guidelines and terms and conditions.

Had this running for a month or so, two sites bringing in around 2 USD a day, so nothing spectacular at all, but ticking over nicely.

One day I get up log into see the day befores balance, couldn't get in to Adsense, so checked my email, and Lo and Behold...

I'd been the perfect host for the adverts, never once (not even a single click) on any of the adverts, from myself at home/work - anywhere! All correctly displayed, in clear advertising space, nothing misleading and decent, unique content on my sites.

I filled in the online appeal form very scantly, literally 'why have I been banned, I adhere to every single T&C and have never clicked on my own ads' but didn't expect a response...

Over 10 days passed, and another email landed in my inbox starting

Great I thought, lets check my balance!!

    Oh... a big fat $0.

My total earnings to date (around $70) had all been negated with a little message saying 'Adjustment - Invalid Clicks'

Talk about furious, I'm very angry, they re-instate my account, i.e. there was no reason to ban me, yet they wipe out my balance??

I for one will be removing googles adverts if they do not re-credit the money they rightfully owe me.

I know it's only a small amount, but if they do this to enough people, it would be a massive subsidy to their advertising P&L.

Hopefully, I will receive another email in about another 9 days with a credit note, but again, I'm not holding my breath!!!

Good luck man. Google's S.O.P. is to be arrogant and non-communicative.

I was banned and re-accepted once. Of course, i lost the money from the account at that time.

Its not the money, I don't care about that, it's more the principle.

In unbanning me, they have effectively admitted that I have done nothing wrong, yet they don't pay me for the adverts that I have been displaying on my site and they have been receiving income from the advertisers for.

It's unethical and to be honest, I'm finding more and more people who they have been doing this too, which is seriously making me reconsider google to be one of the good guys.

Forget what happened and look forward . Al teast you are back :)

Oh just come on ... don't put down Googles for enclosing your account. You know they people are strict, but really supportive, I agree you might not have clicked on your adsense, but there might be masssive clicks by an anonymous visitor, so just cool down, and hope for the best!!!!

They are talking about invalid click activity, are you sure you did not see any such activity

You are lucky to have been unbanned

Google has not eaten up your adsense balance, they have credited it back to advertisers, since those clicks were considered to be invalid and not useful to the advertiser.

Google is not bad mate, but they have to safeguard the advertisers because of whom adsense exists

    My 2 cents.........

I haven't seen any invalid click activity, and checked clicks/ctr etc daily, and it had been fairly stable throughout the month, CTR always remained reasonable (well what I expected ish) and fairly low, and CPC was regular but depended on the subject matter of the site (one obviously paid more than another).

If there was any invalid click activity, then fine, refund it, but every click for the month (in fact probably nearer to two months) is excessive, and I'd almost garauntee that it didn't all get refunded.

So as far as I can tell, if I go to someones site with google ads, and click click click, then their account will be flagged up, and they will lose any money since the last payment??

You realy are lucky. My account was disabled yesterday (invalid clicks). I also take there rules very seriously and I don't tuch my own ads. Not at my work, not from home, not from or by my friends. I send appeal, but no luck. All my sites are ligal by there tou. I lost about 55$+ from this month, 107,94$ from february and 101,99$ from january. I just got check for january today and I guess I wont be able to cash that one also. I will write second appeal today, but I doubt that will help.Losing some money on adsense is not that bad, losing adsense account is harder. I guess I will have to change my game plan and start making sites that will work without adsense.

I'm not trying to defend Goggle in any way but is it not possible that the clicks you were getting were fraudulent (but not your fault) and Google decided to ban your site because it was a draw for such fraudulent activity. They then (and I'm surmising here) found the source of the clicks, blocked the IP, refunded charges back to advertisers, removed your commissions, and reinstated your account, believing they had eliminated the source of the fraud. In other words, it may have never been a question of you or your site being a problem directly. But their reinstating your site does not necessiarily indicate that the original clicks were not fraud. I know this is streching it a bit because it's hard to believe that every click was fraud, but it might be a partial explanation.

Well..google claims to refund the earning from" invalid" clicks to the advertisers. So your account would naturally be zero.
