Hi All, I was mucking around with DigitalPoint's (DP) Back Links Tool and came across some decrepancies. I wasn't sure if I should say anything but I decided to go ahead just incase there is a bug with the Back Links Tool or in case someone is willing to point out my stupidity... Anyways I was doing a Back Links track for www.LeatherPages.com (no its not one of those weird sites ) DP tool show the following: www.leatherpages.com Backlinks=9 PR=4 Pages in URL = 2,270 Jan 6, 2005 Quering Google directly with the following commands give the associated results: site:www.leatherpages.com ==> 12,700 pages site:www.leatherpages.com inurl:www.leatherpages.com ==> 12,700 pages inurl:www.leatherpages.com ==> 49,100 pages Could someone be so kind to explain the descrepancy or is this a bug? cheers Frank
Frank, There are 26 or some such datacenters. If you check all 26 they rarely all agree. Read the FAQs on keyword digger. Shannon
Hi Shannon, Thanks for the reply. I'm fairly new to this, but am also aware of the different data centers. What is puzzling though is that there shouldn't be that much descrepancy. Ultimately my reasoning is that if there is such a descrepacy, optimization would also be difficult if not impossible. (Just my thoughts I guess. ) I also checked another online tool and it gave the exact numbers as the direct google query. Thanks again Shannon. Cheers Frank
Thanks Shawn - I read through it. I guess its the way it is. BTW kudos for all your great work!! cheers Frank
Frank, at the moment, people are reporting seeing swings on same data center throughout the day. Never a dull moment. Shannon
