What supportive evidence have you got to support this hypothesis? It would be interesting to know if you've put this to the test and what the conclusions were.

The only thing you can guarantee is life is your going to die one day. ;)

Yea, I don't care if you don't tell us how you did it- just some evidence to support your hypothesis would be nice

well ive tested over 300 random sites of each pagerank, except pr10 and 9, and came up wiht the averages of backlinks count and their structure. I used the count and pr of incoming links to determine an average ranking and what their pr was now. averaged everything togetehr and calculated how powerfull each pr has on anouther sites pr. Took about 3 weeks to figure out and thats with 2 programs helping me scan for pageranks!

trust me i tested over 60 sites of each pagerank already and these results are dead on!

im testing more right now and coming up with a more detailed formula i should have it posted later this month with extremely detailed factors about how PR is effected.

Regardless of whether it's entirely accurate it's at least a good starting point if you're shooting for a specific PR.

    Good job whiteblue1942

Wow... if you can calculate the score, you must certainly know the total amount of webpages Google has indexed. Because AFAIK, PageRank is actually a probability score.

I think the OP should be at least given the benefit of the doubt and also given a chance to publish his/her findings without being mocked.

Are these overall links or links that google counts?

I used marketleap.com and my site has 54 listed under google and over 4000 in total?

Thanks for the post it makes the boundaries clearer than before.

Hmm, that's odd, I have a PageRank 4 page that contains only 17 in-links, counting those within the site as well (Yahoo site-explorer), one of which is a PR6, with the others being unranked, etc.
If I were to use your calculations, it would mean that the page is supposed to have a PageRank of 2 (or at most 3)...
    ---
EDIT: Included the Mathematics just to show that I'm following instructions.

Let's see... the Mathematics for that one PR4 page:
1 PR6 link, 2 PR0 links, 14 Unranked links. This includes internal links to the page. The links are found via Yahoo Site Explorer, since Google is reporting lesser links.
Assuming all of them are relevant to the page, multiplier for each link: 7x
Assuming that the content on the page is 100% unique in Google's eye: 1.7x
    Total points: (12,754 * 7 + 1 * 7 + 1 * 7) * 1.7 = 151796.4

According to your scale, and the logarithmic factor, the PageRank of the page should be about 3.6. Since Google is notorious for rounding down PageRanks, the page should have a PageRank of 3. Google allocates it as a PageRank of 4.
    ---
Yet another real example, I have yet another PageRank 4 page. It has a different set of links. This time they are mainly internal links, with some external links. Total: 22.
    1 PR5, 1 PR4, 10 PR0, the rest are Unranked.
Same as earlier, the total multiplier is 7x and 1.7x.
    Total points: (6,902 * 7 + 986 * 7 + 1 * 7 + 1 * 7 ... + 1 * 7) * 1.7 = 93986.2
Estimated PageRank, considering logarithmic nature of PageRank would be 3.3.
    ---
The links in this case are all one-way links. These pages were selected as they are known to have a lower amount of links directed to them.
    ---
Overall, it is close, but probably requires fine-tuning. It is also found by experience that PageRank may also be affected by the previous PageRanks of the external/internal links. It is also found that PageRank is also affected by the amount of links within the page itself.

*Google is notorious for having a high rate of anomalous results with PageRank.

if you guys are not coming up with the right pagerank for your site it is because you are only counting each link as one point!!!

you need to go to each one of the sites that is linked to you, FIND THEIR RANKING, find what value that has and how it translates to your site, and then apply the rules at the bottom. THIS IS WHY YOU PEOPLE THINK THIS ISNT WORKING WHEN IT IS.
