Today 7th April is landrush day, I've got my fingers crossed on ten domains. Anyone else (expected over a million applications today) been looking forward to this day?

when the hell does this start? It says 11 o'clock central European time.

If it's 12:56am now, what time is it there? What time will it be here when it's 11 there? Anyone know? =[

Would have been nice if the domain registrations are open internationally

Yeah seems a bit unfair for a generic domain name, maybe they'll open it up inthe future.
I'm lucky enough to be resident in two continents at once (though I'm officially non-resident in new york state, but resident in USA; not really worked that one out yet :)

I'm using eurodns.com, but I think 1and1 and godaddy do them too (check out 1and1.co.uk)

Supposed to be available 2am PDT I think.
Just under 3 and half hours from now.
Most of all the good ones have gone already in sunrise period,
and fake and dodgy trademark wranglings.

    Bit of a farce really.

    yeah you're probably right there.
    euro defence statement
I'll probably end up getting none of the ones I wanted even though they are all dictionary words, and only one (realised after a search) was a company name.
I did not apply for sex.eu but i noticed hundreds of firms tried to get it, as a developmental biologist I've probably got more claim to that name than any of them ;)

Anyway i expect to have a couple of hundred euros worth of credit in the morning so will probably be doing lots of searching and submissions on secondary choices later this morning.

Deano, why not go for DevelopmentalBiology.EU.
Doesn't roll off the tongue as easy as sex.eu, does it?:)

Plus, too much scope for typos.

I have my fingers crossed on a few but I'm not holding my breath. Still, I did pre-register a year ago so it will be interesting to see if I get any.

Looks like the www.euroid.eu website is under heavy load. :)

Hmmm. Curious. I was registering an .eu or two through GoDaddy and then it was no longer available.

LOL Halobitt; I've already got a site on biology, and though it means I can write in depth about the subject, I feel like I'm still at work when I start to update the pages :)
I couldn't imagine the spam I'd get with sex.eu ;) from the BBC
McFox, yeah eurodns.com is very slow, maybe there's been a data freeze, while everything is sorted out.

It has long since started and many many domain have been bought, I think its currently around half a million bought. Godaddy dont seem to be stepping up to the mark and 123-reg are queing still but I know of many domains already bought.

For those that thought eu wouldnt take off I think half a million is a good uptake so far and the eu whois has barely been working under the pressure.

i have a few at some of the smaller registrars, it pointless trying to regsiter at godaddy i would imagine they have hundreds of thousands of domains still left in thier queue. Each registrar may only register one domain per second so it actually makes more sense to find a lesser known registrar.

They're back up but two domains I reg'd have now mysteriously vanished from my account so goodness knows what's going on.

Make that ALL of them have now vanished from my account.

"The Lord giveth and the lord taketh away..." or at least Bob Parsons does.

Still, slightly better than my faring with Dotster.
Every one of my applications has bounced back saying "credit card verifiacation error", and I know it's not my card that is at fault (funds are there).

Maybe this is their way of politely saying "sorry the names you wanted were booked a year ago"
