Okay... so how much money is REALLY in ebooks?

If I wanted to set up a quick site, simply to sell unique ebooks (written by me), and then marketed them via adwords only. Would I make at least a bit more than I spent? Is there any money left in this?

This is all assuming you are superior in writing ability and superior in marketing ability to anyone else who has done the same?

By all means then yes, god yes.

There will always be money in selling ebooks. even if people buy your ebooks just to sell them to other people.

Thank you for your responses guys :)

So let's say I wanted to sell one ebook. I create a nice site for it, with a promotional page. Link the adwords ad to the promotional page, and just hope for some conversions?

Well, how about taking some action. Make one week extensive reading & learning plan: fetch everything you possibly can (via these forums for example) and the next week throw the ebook online and see how things goes.

After you've touched the water... you can dive deeper and putting more thought on your strategies, but for starters: just get the ebook out and see how you can do. Action beats planning & thinking and shows you pretty fast how well it can work, and then you can ask more ideas on how to improve when you have some first hand experience.

Well to be honest not much i think ! i have done research work regarding this on dp, the best of the best ebooks sold in DP do not make over 500$ so i prefer keeping my idea with me rather than selling it to someone. (who can make more than you ,using your ideas&&tricks)

Sell the ideas only when you think its getting saturated or when you think that someone else can sell it, if you are late .

You wont make much from adwords either unless your ideas are totally unique , If you are a newbee and you are looking to sell ebooks on seo,blackhat,link-builiding then sorry to say you will not make enough sales because there are already many people out there competing with each other .

Actually, I was going to write some health ebooks. I figured the "making money online" niche was pretty overdone. I think Game Producer has a valid point. I may as well put my first one out there and see how it does. Then I have some experience to build off of...

why don't you try the free advertising method first. if you have some testimonial from buyer that say your books are good then you can confidently use adwords.

Yeh, and if you get at least one copy sold, remember to ask feedback from the customer and ask if he liked it. When you've sold one copy (and have happy customer), then you can rest assured you can soon sell more copies - just by scaling what you do now.

P.S. I would not throw too much money on AdWords in the beginning, but rather try getting the first copy sold via affiliates or blog (etc.) - you could try also www.clickbank.com and let their affiliates sell your product (for 50-75% commission)

Google PPC may work but like others in the threads above have stated, you won't know until you try.

However, if you are new at PPC and choosing the right keywords....you'll probably lose your shirt. If you try the PPC method, don't lead your visitors to a hard sell sales page. On average, it takes a visitor 7 times to see your message before they make a buying decision. If you direct your traffic via PPC and don't keep them intrigued enough on their first visit to at least subscribe to your mailing list....you will probably lose them and lose your shirt at the same time.

Remember, for the most part, people who are searching the search engines are looking for information....they're not necessarily in the buying mood. If you provide content rather than a "pitch" you'll be much more likely to monetize that "paid for" traffic to paying customers if you can figure a way to get them to come back to your site AFTER their initial click.

Write a keyword rich review of your own book. Make this the landing page that your PPC visitors go to. Give them the information they are searching for based on the keyword/s you have bid on but include an optin option for them to register with your autoresponder to get even MORE information.

Then follow up with them once a week with a new tidbit of info and a link to your sales page.

This is a longer process but a much more profitable one time.

Plus, when you have a similar product in the future....who do you think you can market to first? Yep, your list which you ALREADY paid for once. You can reduce future PPC ads by marketing to that same list that you built through your original campaign.
