70$ startup logo contest

    Hello all,

    I’m opening a new logo contest for a startup company web site. The logo will possibly be used also on flyers, business cards and posters, so we will need a re-sizeable printable format as well.

    The logo must contain the words “3angle software”, which is also the name of the company.

    3Angle Software is a small up and coming software startup geared towards all kinds of web development.

    Considering the company already has some conceptual idea about the logo and to get you started on the right track, there’s an early mockup (attached) you can look at. HOWEVER, you shouldn’t feel bound to it. While your logo shouldn’t stray too far from this general concept, all entries will be taken into consideration. What follows is a brief outline of the aforementioned concept.

    The company has three founders, thus the triangle metaphor. As the attached mockup suggests, there’s the color triangle which has been morphed into something resembling an eye looking inwards. The color triangle should be kept in some form (however stylized you may put it) but the color scheme for the rest is entirely up to you. As far as the color triangle goes, here’s some theory/inspiration for this concept:

    http://www.atpm.com/9.08/images/design-color_triangle.gif
    http://raghavgupta.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/colortriangle.png
    http://www.efg2.com/Lab/Library/Color/MawellTriangle.jpg

    Finally, please take into consideration that providing versions of your logo that will work both on very dark and very light backgrounds is a major plus.

    And remember… less is more. :D

    Payment via PayPal on completion.
    We reserve the right to not choose any logo if we don’t like them, but I am sure this will not happen.
    Competition will remain open for one week or until a suitable entry is found.

    Good luck!

    I believe he just wants it to be resizable. So taking that into mind Im simply going to do it in vector artwork.

    Hi guys,

    While it would be a nice plus to have the logo work both in a dark and light background context, don’t feel overly tied up to that. In other words, don’t let it harm your creativity, which we think should always be placed first.

    A very rough draft from me. I will post a cleaner version later. Just wanted to get my idea in for review before I headed to bed.

    Ok guys, here we go:

    @tnt-tek:
    Despite the simple and elegant execution of the second approach, the symbol in itself resembles way too much that of another company in our country, so we’d suggest you try to come up with a different approach. Something closer to the mockup provided, as far as the symbol is concerned, would be nice.

    As for the first approach, it’s a bit too retro for what we’re looking for. It reminds us too much of Spectrum computers which regardless of how much we all loved them, isn’t quite what we’d like to be associated with.. ;)

    @explorer11:
    The reflection looks alright, but maybe try using a different, slicker, font? The triangle(s) also feel a little too complex. Remember, again, less is more… ;)

    @V06-TECH:
    Nice result on recreating the mockup. Perhaps you could spice it up a little, make it a little more sophisticated. The mockup feels bland and that trait carries a little into your revamp. We’re also very much looking forward to your original designs.

    @domainloco.net:
    Concerning your first approach only, it definitely looks nice. However, the colours you’ve chosen, despite being nice and easy on the eyes, may not be exactly what we’re looking for. Perhaps take a little more inspiration in the mockup colour scheme and apply it to your idea which seems fundamentally alright? Also, maybe an alternate font?

    @RNHalawi.com:
    About image number 2, only. It looks quite good, maybe you could try enhancing the symbol part of it? Also, how about additionally providing a version where the triangle/pyramid symbol is scaled down and comes before the brand name? Basically, merge idea 1 and 2 but leaning much more towards 2.

    As for all the others submissions we haven’t commented upon, they simply aren’t what we’re looking for, despite the potential they could have elsewhere. But feel free to come up with different approaches, everybody’s work will be equally considered, no matter how many false starts or accumulated submissions. :)

    Hi there cff, before I enter this contest, I'd like to clarify a few things:

    Are you looking for a corporate-type logo, or a web 2.0 type logo?

    Also, this is in Adobe Illustrator format, not Photoshop right?
