name tag and title tag in links? frowned upon by google or not?

was just wondering whther google penalized for using title tags in links and name tags for anchors in links? any ideas?

 

how did you conclude that you are penalized?

 

Im merely wondering, m8 I haven't applied them yet just wondering if anyones tried and benefitted or been penalised?

 

AFAIK it's actually better to have some variation in anchor texts, rather than having a fixed one. Looks less spammy.

Never heard of it. As far as I know there's no penalisation or bonus for that. I guess Google ignores it.

But your visitors don't, so use where it is appropriate, if the link needs additional description.

 

I always use title="" in my links. It is recommended by google and I have been doing it for ~5 years without a problem.

...href ="http://www.catanich.com/" title="keyword phrase"...

As for the use <a name="label">Text to be displayed</a>, I also use it but I do not add a title="" to it.
