Mysterious GMail Image - Girl Sticking Out Tongue!

Discussion in 'Google' started by T0PS3O, Mar 30, 2006.

Maybe related to Google's blog disappearing, someone just commented in my blog post on GoogleTestAd that many GMail users reported an image being replaced by a dark haired girl cheekily sticking out her tongue.

See the comment here and another link here.

I first suspected corrupt browser cache myself but apparently loads of people reported seeing it so doesn't sound like a freak act of nature (technology). More like an inside job.

Will probably hit Phillip Lenssen's Outer Court blog soon if indeed this was the case.

I don't see that. Why you say "Maybe related to Google's blog disappearing"? You have thought the story about Google's blog deletion is false and the "hacker" has got some ftp passwords?

The image obviously has been fixed pretty quick, apparently it was last night it showed up. I wouldn't expect to see it still.

If someone internally has the power to mess around with the blog, maybe they were also in the position to change the image. Pure guess work obviously, what do I know. But for the sake of sensationalism it's a nice idea :D

Or perhaps it gets triggered when you hit 888 unread in your inbox?

I haven't seen it myself but yeah, like I said I have had FF choke on its own cache before (not for a year though) and present some weird images.

But that wouldn't be the issue considering there are, alledgedly, more than one sighting.

Then again, the guy who posted it hosts that image on a site where stoners promote marihuana (I just noticed) so only God knows, if he exists, where they got that from.
