I haven't had too much to complain about in the past, I am with Hostgator, I have e-mailed them a few times but they say the problem is not with them (though I am inclined to try and believe them, I am only experiencing my problems with them and not anyone else). I cannot seem to really log into cPanel. Half of the time it shows up as "Page Cannot be Found". Anyone with Hostgator that has had any problems recently? The site in question is ThinkBlogger.org (cPanel: thinkblogger.org:2082). I have noticed my site has been acting funny too, however this could also be on my side. I cannot even seem to login to the :2082 page anymore. Maybe after about 10 refreshes I get a half-loaded one which lets me login, but even then the navigation seems horrible. (again, this could be just on my side - which is why I need everyones opinion) I have tried to configure my routers port range so it accepts 2000-2100 but it has not gone away. I have done a trace route and although there is a small spike at one of the points, it still manages to go through to the end. Can anyone just test the link to see if it works? or if it gives you a page not found? I am just trying to figure out if this is a Host Problem, Router Problem, or even an ISP problem. Any Suggestions? Hopefully this would be considered the right thread. I almost wanted to post it in General Talk though. >_> Thanks.
Both the site page and the cPanel login page loaded quickly for me. You might try clearing yor cache files in your browser. Sometimes you get a bad value in there and it can give you problems for some time.
I just tried opendns however I am not exactly sure how this could work. I looked over the tools though. However, I think it might be a router problem... I have tried, but I still cannot seem to open the 2082 port (even while doing a port range forward). Could also be ISP... Gate2vn (or anyone), can you explain how opendns would help?
Each web request will need to be processed through a DNS server first, to resolve to the server IP. In your case, it seems your ISP (or your router) DNS cache having trouble. Using opendns as DNS resolver works cause its cache is new, refreshed frequently, and your web requests dont use router/ISP cache anymore. If it's ISP issue, I doubt you can do anything. If it's your router, you can read the manual again, to see how to clear its cache. Usually, turn off it for 10-15 minutes will help
And if you are using dchp (auto assigned addresses) you can reset it to factory defaults. They all have a reset button somewhere. Do make sure that you know what the default password is before you reset the router as it will reset the password as well as everything else.
