Ok well it started about 2-3 days back - I started noticing a severe drop in my adsense earnings and clearly it wasn't the traffic or any changes on my part. So I investigated as much as I could assuming that it was my fault, or a recent change in my site. But then upon closer inspection I realized that some of the Adsense servers are having trouble keeping up with requests. And at varying times their server generates errors and is not spitting out the proper adsense code, so instead the visitor is greeted with a blank page. This means less profit for publishers since ads are not being pushed out, and thus users can't click on them. At first I thought maybe it's just me, but then on seeing their web forum - there seems to be a few users who are speaking up on the sudden drop in earnings: http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help-troubleshooting/browse_thread/thread/34a1f4c61b452ddd http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help-troubleshooting/browse_thread/thread/ae1f7269c183d026 http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help-troubleshooting/browse_thread/thread/506dae78b3e14050 http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help-troubleshooting/browse_thread/thread/b05a87112513c86b http://groups.google.com/group/adse...read/thread/cc906c2381d41ee7/5493396b4d821418 It seems that there having problems with a few of the ad and referral formats, there's no official comment on it - but it seems to be a major problem.
I doubt they'll make an official announcement, they'll probably fix the problem and pretend like nothing ever changed. Admission of fault is something companies try to avoid, because it means they can be held liable (although their tos stipulates otherwise). This may not affect all users, I'm sure if it's only affecting a few users on a particular server or if its sporadically happening at random to a lot of users. All I know is that I've seen my Adsense earnings decrease by 1/2 in less then 3 days and I can't figure out why (my other ad-based earnings remain the same - so it's quite odd).
I've been monitoring my AdSense earnings damn close since February 6. It dropped 1/3 of my normal earnings. What's weird is my traffic is way up overall (not just one site) yet my earnings are WAY down (across different revenue sources). February is an odd month indeed. Nice to hear this (bad, yet nice to know something may be behind it) news about the AdSense servers. It was an odd drop. Rep added!
I can't say when it started, but for me it was earlier this week - it's definately a problem - I've sent them 2 e-mails, no replies so far - here's hoping they do something about this - maybe send out some of those "christmas gifts" out to those affected.. (wishful thinking indeed)
Well, surprisingly i havent had anything of that sort-or is it that the issue is only with certain servers.........
can't say for certain, from what I see it seems that not everyone is affected by it - but a good handful are. It may periodically affect all publishers, but some more then others.
I guess this would be one reason to have a backup service like adbrite that will only serve ads if your adsense CTR drops below a threshold that you specify. My earnings have been crap all week, but I in the last 6 months that I have been using adsense, this seems to happen quite frequently even though traffic is steady on my sites.
this is the first time I know of that adsense is actually down sporadically, I haven't heard of it before. The worst part is still nothing from Adsense after 3 attempts to contact them.
I had my adsense earning increase in this few days..ermm..maybe Im on the side where the server is rock-solid....
