I noticed since Friday that traffic to my site suddenly increased, on Sunday record-breaking over 300 visitors, Monday new high with over 380. Any opinions why a drastic increase? Can it be because of the NFL Super Bowl game weekend (site's niche: sports) that 'makes' that niche go up the rankings for a while? Site is listed in DMOZ under the NFL page plus in plenty of other directories in the NFL sections. I was also more active on Digital Point, could have that made any contribution through signature links since DP Forum gets crawled often? I also did several variations of my web-site in local languages. Through web hosting CP, I can see 'Last 10 Referring Websites' and I receive more Google traffic in 3 hours than what was in 12 hours a few days back. Does higher traffic make your site go up in the SE rankings for having higher traffic?
higher traffic will not bring your sites rankings in SE's...but yes higher rakings will definitely bring in higher traffci to your site...I think you should check your analytics data...as u said it can be because of the NFL Super Bowl game weekend..the number of searches were increased during that time...just monitor your traffci for a weeks time and you will be able to understand..how you got more traffic...Was it event based? or you got better rankings....Also it will be a good practise to maintain trafic and ranking reports weekly...so that every week you can analyze what is the improvement...
Thanks. I saw some similar threads in the 'Google' forum like this one http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=690305 where a person states similar sudden increase of stats, I also saw another thread where people ask why they have sudden decrease. This may be on a more general scale.
