Hi, I recently got a message from google asking me to basically clean up one of my sites or they may no longer serve ads on it. Does this page: http://www.theafricangreyparrot.com/African-Grey-Parrot-Buying-Guide.html have too many ads on it? Cheers Jamie
Ok, i thought that it might be because i had white arrows above the link units (now removed). I thought that you were allowed 3 ad units and in addition to that 1 link unit? Jamie
3 ad units and 1 link unit, 2 search boxes... as per adsense policies. Your page is cramped... redesign the theme so that it automatically resizes. Most people will be using at least 1024x768. This will also allow you to better layout the ads, too.
ok so there are not too many ads on the pages. I think it was to do with the arrows above the link units. On another note. People moan about getting banned from adsense all the time. I don't understand this - they seem very reasonable to me. Google have been great to me: Let me know that my site was contraveneing adsense policies Given me three days to clean it up Stated that they would not serve ad on the page if i didn't (no mention of the account being banned though) I think this is probably because the infringements were not very serious or malicious. Anyways - take it easy guys Jamie
from https://www.google.com/adsense/policies Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page. A maximum of two Google AdSense for search boxes may be placed on a page. A single link unit may be placed on each Web site page, in addition to the ad units and search boxes specified above. Link units are considered to be 'Google ads' for purposes of these program policies. A single referral button per product may be placed on a page, in addition to the ad units, search boxes, and link units specified above. Referral buttons are considered to be ‘Google ads’ for purposes of these program policies. so it says that you can have up to 3 ads on each page. of which a text link and a referral button count as an ad. so you can have 2 ads and 1 link and no more. you cant have 3 ads and a link. you can have 3 ads and a search or 2 but thats all.
How do you come to this conclusion? Based upon googles wording, 3 ad units, 1 link unit, 2 search boxes, 1 adsense referral and 1 firefox referral are ok. So, three ad units ... i.e. with text adverts, they're not a referral button, link unit or search box. So 2 search boxes are allowed, and they are not referral button, link unit or ad unit. A single link unit can be placed in addition to 3 ad units and 2 search boxes. A link unit is not an ad unit or a search box. So a firefox referral and a adsense referral button can be placed per product on the same page as 3 ad units, 2 search boxes and 1 link unit.
sorry i totally got confused. it's like i missed the meaning of addition in that. when i read it it seemed like the above said a single link may be placed but is concidered google ads, so i took it as google looks at it as 1 of the 3 ads. i think them saying specified above is what threw me off like they were referring to the fact that 3 ad units was max and a link was part of it.
so you could have *3 ad units *2 search boxes *1 link unit Altogether you could have 6 google "items" on a page.
Definitely 6 is pushing it. Google show the highest paying ads first so I think one well-placed ad unit is enough, rather than 3 ad units.
yes i seen that article about that. and it is true. my top ad was getting way more money, middle one got about 20-30 each, bottom 1 got like 4cents.
Really? I wasn't aware of that - although it does make sense. I suppose there could be two schools of thought on this one then: 1) Use a minimal amount of ad units - the clicks or more likely to be higher paying 2)Use more ad units - users are more likely to see an ad that catches their eye and therefore clicks thoughts?
Minimal. Lots looks spammy. One ad unit with say 3 ads in is probably good, but experiment and see what works best for you. Good luck.
