YPN terms and conditions change with weekend updates...
I just received an e-mail from Yahoo beginning:
"Dear Publisher,I'm looking through the new terms. Any idea what the changes are and what your thoughts on them are? |

Is this a change? And if so what the heck does it mean?
Exclusivity. For any webpage or RSS feed that includes the Ad Code, you agree not to display or link to any other advertising (including but not limited to any listing) that is mapped to or responds to the content of the Ad Page. |

I have no clue what that means...it sounds like they're saying you cant display any other ads on a page that has YPN. :-\
"that is mapped to or responds to the content of the Ad Page." whatever that means.... Wait, I think that might be saying you can't run other contextual advertising, like Adsense....because that would "respond" to the actual content on the page. Last edited by nt99; Mar 20th 2006 at 2:40 pm. |

Well i don't know if im right but i think they say you can't display non revelent ads in your website. So if your website is about dogs you can't use ad targeting to display insurace ads. But if i understood wrong please tell me.

I dont know... I'm thinking yes, but who is to determine what is relevant to a given web page? Surely, they dont mean it has to be exactly the same subject? If I have a site targetted to a specific demographic that is about a product unrelated to say, for example, health ads, and I display health ads on this page which is "irrelevant" to the content, but relevant to the demographic and gets clicks, since we do not have any performance data about how these clicks convert, they can't possibly expect us to not show these ads. But then again, this is the same company that has been banning publishers for other unknown reasons without giving much more than a vauge answer and reference to possible reason(s) in breach of TOS :/
Can anyone 100% confirm that this is what was in fact added? |

I think it means we can't show other ads and affiliate programs like fastclick, commission junction, etc on the same page.
I hope they don't say you can't show any other ad on the whole site assoicated with the page showing ypn ads. Quote:

There were only two changes, and I have detailed them here:
http://www.jensense.com/archives/200...te_rundow.html It took me a bit longer this time, as I had to get permission to blog about it (based on terms in their T&C). But the changes are nothing that will affect most publishers. |

Has anybody called YPN to see if we could show non revelent ads in our websites?

I hope they aren't saying that you can't have any other affiliate links on the page... that doesn't seem to make much sense because I have a feeling that many of us also use cj or other similar banner ads programs as well... does anyone else have further information on this?

It is my understanding that you CAN NOT display other same type ads etc, or competitor ads, such as AdSense and Amazons, on any page that shows YPN ads. You can't have code etc that shows one person ypn ads and another adsense ads based on location either, as this would still be displaying competitor ads.
To be safe I just run strictly YPN ads, no others at all now, not even banners, or anything. |

Wasn't one of the changes:
11. Abuse of Services. You agree not to: blah blah blah ..... -> L. display all or part of the Ad Unit to any user located outside the US; How does one go about controlling where their web page is displayed? |

I contacted Yahoo about the exclusivity part because I also use adBrite. Basically they said as long as the ad that is not Yahoo doesn't show ads based on what the content of your site is, you're allowed to leave them up. adBrite, I'm pretty sure doesn't do that, they are random everytime except for when an Advertiser purchases adspace on you. Advertisements like Adsense though would be consider violating if they are on the same page as YPN.
