Let's discuss, because Sitepoint seems to be very downhill to me, they have: -Fees -Signatures not shown to guests / search engines -Digitialpoint owning them (search engine wise, etc.)
Fees helped reduce the amount of dross that was being posted there a bit and they moderate their sales threads pretty well, I have only ever visited their sales area though and continue to do so.
Agreed... adding fees to the marketplace probably brought exactly what they wanted (less for sale threads and just concentrate on the serious buy/sell topics).
I made a topic on sitepoint that is a great keyword and has been on the 1st page of google for months now. "web salary" or "average web salary" and I get tons of hits a day from it.
Fees ... is something that distracts people at start... atleast they should know it's value and then let them decide what they have to do... donate or not... well many people who love something definitely donate ... because they have found very useful and by any means they will help ... even with the promotion...
I was a long time member of SitePoint, and recently came across DigitalPoint and must say I have come to like the overall feel and look and discussions of DP better.
I just do not know why the hell on earth do they charge listing fees. Unbeatable stupidity. All they want is money. Ahh.. I've lost a good way to find cheap labours.
Looks like a crummy version of what Seochat started to do... with lousy and greedy admins... and we all know how that ended...
