Ads Can Now Be Themed

As you can see in the admin area, ads can now be given a theme.

In the Account settings we can't specify yet what theme our site falls under so how are they going to be matched? By user input or by API querying? And will it account for different themes within a site?

Right now it's just gathering the data for new ads for future use. Still need to work out a system so people can make the assignments for existing ads as well as the actual delivery mechanisms.

Is there going to be an ANY theme?
I know this would probably be abused for most possible exposure, but I'm sure someone will ask if I don't. :)

I hope there's no ANY theme. That would basically assign you to a random site, and over time people will simply just pick ANY, and the whole theming concept would be useless. Maybe devise a way to have three selections of themes for your site, and then the network would select based on those three criteria.

That's great! Might be nice to let you set a default theme and default language for your site.

So, the theming will be based on the ads and not necessarily the sites, right?

Special characters have always been supported... It uses unicode (UTF-8) encoding.

Currently the theme and language data is for data collection purposes. It's not doing anything with it at this point (still need a good way to start splitting up the network).

This is great Shawn! Looks like very soon we gonna have only themed ads appearing on our sites :) It will bring down back links, so what - people will be putting their ads in most appropriate places and not just before the body closing tag which should create more click throughs, more targeted traffic. This is really interesting project! Thanks a lot!

Shawn, I still have my doubts about the network, but I'm really impressed that you're making it better like this. :)

Should we go recreate our ads and add in a theme, then?
