They are starting to be like Bill Gates Foundation which is great! You earned billions of dollars from society and are now contributing back to society. These news immediately give me a much favorable outlook of Google. This is really a blessing of humanity that arch rivals Microsoft and Google do have a same goal - to help mankind.

Well i think google has always been good, No Evil.. ;)
    .
I just hope that the CIA wont use google to be like the big brother overlooking everybodys information and giving access to personal information if requested by the CIA or FBI.

Google started various things like election propagandas, Competition in Computer engineering women that will be held in India etc. It is also like Google covering its area slowly over all the fields of our life.

Google wants to engage in Anti Poverty? Nice. Does this mean we all get Adwords for free now? :)

Nobody has said that they didn't know that Google.org existed. However, Google.org announced yesterday that they are making these charity initiatives.

Official Google Blog - dated January 17

It's nice to plug your own blog, but this is actually "breaking" news and it wasn't around six months ago.

I cannot imagine a better way to increase brand awareness. :)

Besides, it's a good move to give something back to the society. So both sides would get a benefit. Respect to Google!

why google doesn't help those who work, instead of the ones who just wait for others to feed them? the ones getting only .05$ clicks for eg? are they not poor enough?
