I am considering starting a new online forum, but as I'm a complete newbie in this area I'd like your advice, please. What is the best forum script available these days? Simple Machines Forum, phpBB, vBulletin or another one perhaps? Free or paid doesn't matter, as long as it is convenient to maintain and has got plenty of options to manipulate. How do the three forum scripts I mentioned compare? Cheers for your advice!
I've always liked vbulletin better than any of the other ones just because the setup, the support and everything else. Its worth the price for the overall success of your website. =]
VBulletin is by far the best and most liked by members and owner alike, but it comes at a cost. The best free one is SMF and the migration to VB later on is easily done.
for obvious reasons and being a professional, updated regularly and best in features.. Vbulletin is the best application for Forums. Lemme know if you want a comparison? Deep Websule.com
I've used VB for over five years and can vouch that it's the best out there - very robust and well thought out. Besides the main vbulletin.com site, there's also a vibrant community at Vbulletin.org. You can't go wrong.
Oh come on guys! I need more info other than "vB is good". I can hardly believe vBulletin sits lonely at the top, as all forum scripts look pretty much the same to me. I came across the Invision Power Board. Is the IP.Board any good or is it just expensive and offering little value for money? Can someone give a brief or extended comparison, please?
