Yesterday I searched on MSN.com and got the beta engine...CHECK THAT, just went there again right now and the new engine appears to be released. Enjoy! - Michael
CHECK THAT again. When my co-worker goes to MSN.com he gets the old layout and the old engine. Maybe it's in my cookies from before....? Anyone else? For clarity, at msn.com I get the new engine and I get a new layout for MSN.com. My co-worker gets the old layout and the old engine. - Michael
Before you get too excited, this is (and has been for some time) limited to small areas throught the world. Donna has a screenshot on her site. Heres the article: http://www.seo-scoop.com/month_blogs.cfm?d=1&m=12&y=2004 Heres the actual screenshot: http://www.seo-scoop.com/images/msnpeek.gif
You're fast donna...I must have added the site to my post the same time you were replying. Nice scoop anyway.
I've seen (and reported on seochat) several hits to my sites coming from search.msn.com in keywords that I rank well in on beta and not on the live version. I would agree that this seems to be a limited roll out, but my fingers are crossed that they release it full scale soon!
my site has got a top50 ranking on beta search in a major keyword but now where on the real search. So guys when do you think it's goanna fully launch it's new search.
I'm not sure how much Top 50 will help you (which really means #45, otherwise you would have said top 40, etc). I believe they are still aiming for First Quarter 2005 __________________ Health Forum | Health Topics | Submit your site - No Recip Needed | Test One
Nah, top 50 means nothing - but it indicates that you're doing something right but still have some more work to do
I asked a few guys at the MSN Booth (SES Expo) when they were coming out of beta. They of course said they couldn't really say, but it was really really soon.
I talked to them today also - they dont want to commit to a date - they have 5 billion pages indexed - but then said google just increased to 8 billion pages, they have a lil catching up to do now. They did say early 2005 - What did you think of the show goodgirl?
I wanted to stop by there today and ask if it was really soon yet, but didn't have time. MSN did have the biggest booth. It is funny, last year they were there. Google was, but nobody at the Google booth all day long. They just had a booth with there name on it. This year MSN is there, they have the biggest booth and about 10 reps there, Google actually had people servicing their booth and was giving stuff away this year.
It was a little bigger then last year exhibit wise. They said it was a bigger show, but I thought there was less people this year. Maybe that is because last year was in smaller areas. It is good to go to and get to actually talk to people face to face.
I found it to pretty much be a waste of time - the expo anyway - I didnt go to any seminars. But, I got enough T Shirts and a decent lunch - so that balanced out my parking fees Most of the exhibitors that were there really seemed to be more for large companies who dont do any of their own web work, not much there for little guys like me.
