For Those SMF Noobs (no offense) Go to your FTP and go to the root folder you installed SMF Go to your Themes Folder Click On Your Current theme folder and Now Look for index.template.php Open it ON notepad/wordpad And Look for the meta tags Change them to anything of your choice it will help you Note : By default you will have Simplemachines Meta Tags. Another Quick Tip. Make your Posts More Search Engine Friendly Go to Admin Panel and Go to Features and Options Check Search Engine Friendly Url's and DONE (only works for sites with APACHE) PS. Most of you already knew this but i just wanted to help and if you found this helpful take your time to link to my site. (www.googleminigames.com) Thanks.
i could'nt find index.template.php there is only index.php ?? EDIT: Got it... its under Themes/yourTheme/index.template.php
hmm those are old especially SMFSEO and it only works on old version of SMF and is and always stayed in Beta and can get you banned from Search Engines because it uses Black Hate SEO ... SEO4SMF is buggy but might work for you
one of them is, surprised its still there. SEO4SMF will work with 1.1.4 if you tweak it a little. Pretty URLs is another mod thats kinda nice. i'm just curious what the point of your original post is?
It is quite good. There are some problems with it and sometimes setting it up can be quite challenging..
SEO4SMF Questions on SMF 1.4 Hey guys..I have two questions: 1)How specifically do I tweak SEO4SMF to work with SMF 1.4? And probably a stupid question: I have integrated Wordpress with SMF on my two sites below. the URL for my forums are...domain.com/forum/ In the SEO4SMF directions it says to modify the .htaccess. OK. Here is my question: 2) I have 2 htaccess files. one for WP and one for SMF. Which one do I modify? Thanks... __________________
I'm having a bit of trouble with SEO4SMF. Here is a screenshot of part of my board index. Once I click one of the boards, I get 404'd. What is the problem here? Yes, localhost is correct. I test everything using MAMP before attempting to run it on a live forum. It installed fine even though my forum is running 1.1.4. If this is not the problem, does anyone have any suggestions?
thats normal sadly , it just gets a lot of 404 errors using these... that's why i have removed them from my site and only used the SEO FRIENDLY option on Admin>Features & Option PS. I dont you really recommend you use these anymore
It works fine for me on v1.1.4. Are you sure your mod_rewrite is working correctly and that the .htaccess file is correct and current?
what did you do that your admin panel is gone? is your forum still there? did you activate your .htaccess file?
