I just wanted to point out something...

People always talk about ranking for competitive phrases..
How do people rank competitiveness? - By the amount of results shown for a particular phrase..

What some people (especially newbies) don't realize is that ranking for a competitive keyword doesn't mean that you will get traffic from this keyword.

There are keywords that are very competitive but don't get searched too many times...

A good example for this is the keyword: bring
This keyword has 403,000,000 results in Google, but isn't commonly searched for..
In this case, even if the keyword was searched for commonly it would be very hard to "fit" a site to the keyword.. What type of site would someone who searches for the keyword "bring" expect to see in the top results?

The most important factors in keyword research are the amount of searches per keyword, and the relevancy of the keyword to your website..

After you have found keywords that score well in both of these fields, the next step is to check how competitive they are in the search engines - trying to avoid "over-competitive" keywords...

Competitiveness isn't only the amount of results that come up for a particular keyword, but also the strength of the pages that come up and the connection between the keyword and the pages...

Staying with the keyword "bring", almost all of the pages on the top 10 for Google have the title - "bring it on".. and most of them imply to the movie "Bring it On".

None of the websites target "bring" as a keyword... making it highly possible to rank in the top 10 on Google for this keyword..

There are two problems with this keyword:
    1) It is a "one-word keyword", and "one-word keywords are relatively hard to rank for.
    2) There aren't too many searches for "bring".

Just wanted to point this out and hopefully clear the smoke for some people

    Thanks,

    Elad

By using the result when you search

    in google
    keyphrase
    intitle:keyphrase

You see the results ..... and see competitivity

There are various search tools that you can use to check how many searches a keyword has..

you can search DP forums as there have been a lot of threads posting keyword tools or you can go to:

    http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/

They have a list of some good keyword assessment tools..
