Sitelinks

    Hello,

Under my webmaster tools I have 4 sitelinks listed for one of my sites. These have been listed here for about a month. Problem is they don't show up in search results.

I know these are generated automatically but I was just wondering if it is common for them to show up in my webmaster panel but not in search results.

Joost De Valk did a post about this yesterday:

    http://www.joostdevalk.nl/more-sitelinks/

They started showing up in the webmaster central for a couple of my sites yesterday for the 1st time, should just be a matter of time before they start showing up in the SERPs for some of your main phrases or your URL at least.

Can you please let me know the URL of which of your site is getting the sitelinks?

Usually, the most popular keyword/phrase will show it on search results -- or if it still does not show type www.yourdomain.com and see what happens.:)

I don't know.... often these kinds of tools aren't too accurate for me. And anyway, I'd prefer a surprise. :)

Dave E: Thanks for the link.

The domain is listed as Video Game News in my sig. I've tried just my domain and nothing. I assume it is only a matter of time before they show up.

If you add your website to Google's Webmaster Tools, under Links » Sitelinks you'll see some options there.

    Hope that helps...

BTW, I've managed to snag a couple of Sitelinks on Google for client websites.

They've not gone through into the SERPs just yet, but it'll be a great way to start the new year...

    I just found this here:

"Note that we only display sitelinks when a site has a minimum of four sitelinks available. If you have three or fewer unblocked sitelinks, no sitelinks at all will appear in Google search results for your site."

That explains it for me. I have 3 sitelinks listed and 2 that I blocked. So looks like I will have to wait till Google finds a 4th one.

I just went in and unblocked the 2 blocked ones. I am really curious to see how sitelinks increase click through and I really had no reason to block the links. The 2 blocked ones were direct links to news posts and I'd prefer top level links but oh well...no harm in having them there I guess.

Now that I've got Sitelinks, I can begin a good examination.

    Possible contributing factors:
    1. Age of the web address.
    2. Popularity of certain web pages, such as top products and / or services.
    3. Most popular CTAs (Calls To Action), such as "Contact Us" web pages.
    4. The name of company matching the words in the name of the web address.

Those factors that appear to have little relevance:
    1. Google PageRank — one is 1 and the other is 4.
    2. Menu structure — one website really only has a product menu and a footer.
    3. The volume of web traffic — neither are getting more than 300 visits per day.

    More to come, I'm sure...

I have same - many sitelinks generated in webmasters tools but not displayed. I think that we see those links are just potential candidates to be real sitelinks, but doesn't mean they have appear to the public right now.

I've seen a sudden jump in one of my own websites in terms of serps but have also noted the sitelinks appear in my google webmaster account; however not in the serps as yet... fingers crossed this will eventually filter through... just in the process of some googling to see if i can learn anything further...
