Google Releasing New Profile Cards

At long last, it looks like Google is going to be coming out with system wide profile cards that you can share as little or as much about yourself as you want.

Previously all the different areas of Google had their own profiles, and it made no sense to have to update each one individually and keep them all going. The new ones are being linked up over time with Reader, Maps, Blogger, Orkut and more.

Your nickname will display on the cards, and your real name will only show to your contacts. If you do choose to put your real name in the nickname section, there is a chance of you getting indexed by Google in their search results. We’ll leave that up to you if that’s a good thing or not.
