digitalpoint a four letter word

    digitalpoint has become a four letter word apparently... {grin}

Webmaster World banned me because back when AdSense started using background images, I posted about it on WMW before anyone else saw it. Someone asked me what it looked like, and knowing they are strict on having URLs, I simply said it was showing on my website.

They deleted the post because I said "my website", which I thought was kind of comical of course. So I mentioned in as a comment on an existing thread about the topic at Abakus:

    http://www.abakus-internet-marketing.de/en/forum/viewtopic/t-580/.html

That comment in turn got my account at WMW banned.

But here's the funny part... Part of my post on Abakus had this (in jest of course):

    I just realized that not only did they ban my account, but the word digitalpoint is now on their censored list, so no one can mention that terrible word. {dying of laughter}

    http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum80/708.htm

It's actually so funny that I really can't wipe this stupid grin off my face (seriously). :)

My guess is their post I'm linking to will soon "magically" disappear. :)

Those guys have to be the biggest arses online and Digital Point will pass them up by a longshot in the end.

No one is going to pay those guys to discuss anything over there, I know former moderators that have told me that the forum is a mess and they are lost.

Don't worry, because you have nothing to worry about.

PS: DigitalPoint is a dirty word in my book every once in a while also :p :)

Mine too... I'm thinking digitalpoint should be the first censored word at this forum. :)

They can not be that smart because when you get a link to one of their threads it gives you a page that says that it is exclusive member content and you can not view it without paying money.

What a joke, almost like missing the "Clay Aiken X-mas special", my heart is broken :p :) :D

The mods are leaving WMW in droves.
    pandia.com/sw-2004/62-webmasterworld.html

How your post on my forum could have got that reaction Shawn is frankly mind boggling and indicative of their general heavy handedness over just about everything over there. Very paranoid bunch as well, 'everyone is against us' type of mentality. I would love to know the real reason why all the quality mods there disappeared.

No doubt I'm now on the black list or about to be. I wonder if the word Abakus will get blacklisted as well.

Why would you really care Webby, webmaster forums are just an add on to just about every site out there today and are nothing but commodities now.

There are too many Chiefs and not enough Indians in that town.

Digital Point is much more than a forum as most who have been here know.

It flattering in a weird sort of way. They actually care about what I have to say I guess. {shrug} :)

anothony - maybe he cares because he has the largest German webmaster forum (at least I would assume it is), and what we are talking about was because of a post I made on his English forum.

Why did they really ban you in a short statement Shawn, in words the average reader can understand?

Could it be they seen you as competition?

What I meant Shawn was why would he care if they banned him?

They can not hurt his forum, nor can they hurt yours.

Yeah its the largest German speaking search engine marketing forum at least, but the english forum was hardly well populated. Very strange behaviour. Was this forum up and running at the time Shawn?

It was started literally a few days before I made that post on your forum. Probably less than 20 users at the time. :) And most definitely not the traffic I get now.

OH my, this is a complete joke!

I have to say WMW is good but not that good

I posted on there once and it caused an uproar, something in the google dont take over my desktop topic. That was some funny sh*t; those guys are way over moderated...

If you search for 'piniyinipompom' on google, you should find it.

Oh wait, heres the link http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum80/457-4-10.htm

Shawn you dont mind me linking to them do you? Nah only they would have a stupid rule like that

Good for what? Even their moderators are saying they suck and the place is out of control with censorship and stupid rules.

If they paid me 50 bucks a month I would not go there

Believe me, a lot more members would post in a thread like this if they were not scared of being banned by the commies over there.

well the next logical step for them would be to post invisible that would take care of their worries....[IMG]

But one has to assume that would violate their own TOS.....
