Anybody have a site drop out of Google last night, I did.

Hi guys, last night around 6pm both of my below client sites completely disappeared from Google:

    debt management site
    novell groupwise site

Both sites were ranking on the front page of Google for dozens of keywords and had been without incident for several months. Then gone.

I went into Google Webmasters and deleted and resubmitted both their sitemaps but I don't expect that to have much effect. Google Webmasters Tools confirm that both sites are no longer in the index. Not good!

The sites are designed with clean HTML, use no hidden text or other tricks and are considered leaders in their respective fields. I am also confident that neither has violated the Google Webmasters Guidelines. Both have made great inroads in link building over the last year, but its been slow and steady and niche-related.

This came out of the blue. If anyone had something similar happen or if you can provide some feedback please let me know.

Obviously if I don't know what the problem is I can't fix it and right now, I am at a loss. Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

    HI!
A Similar thing happened to me also.
I was ranked No. 3 for keyword Vedic Maths and now I am out of Google. None of my pages are indexed in Google and I am out. I have over a 1000 backlinks and had a PR of 5. My website was a year old and I dont know how did this happen and what was the reason behind this sudden Google Dance. I am panicky. Can someone please help.???

A reason could be that my website has heavy keyword which I will again optimise for website. I have given a request for reconsideration to google and I Hope they include me again.

Seems like Google Tweaked their algorithms yesterday.

I hope someone gives a solution here.

    Wishes

At least in this case, I certainly wouldn't want to submit ANY reconsideration requests until I diagnosed the problem. So I wouldn't be doing that till at least the end of December anyway. It's hard to admit you violated Google Webmasters Guidelines, when you clearly don't feel you did.

But again, if someone sees something I don't. Please speak up. I am certainly not to proud to admit when a mistake has been made on my end, I just can't see it at this point.

These are two great clients who definitely deserve to be in Google. I hope this just a temporary glitch but if not, bring on the Christmas miracles!

Seems strange but on the other hand I've seen a lot of posts about sites and pages falling out of the index and then reappearing, also huge drops in the number of results being returned.

Over the last week my blog was indexed, fell out and is starting to come back in again.

Things seem to be shifting around in the index and my feeling is you will soon be back in as quickly as you dissapeared.

I had a site I'd been working on for about a year just drop out last night.
14000 backlinks, 2 years old, had 2500 UV per day.
I can't begin to imagine what algo change would have caused it.

Thanks for the input. If you feel that is the case though, then by all means, PM me your example of that so I can respond.

But right now, I don't think that's the issue.

I never heard of a site getting completely banned because of duplicate content penalties, unless its reported as a copyright violation.
My own site definitely has not been banned for this reason.

I hope it does come back soon. and things get better this time. I worked my ass off to get these rankings and do a lot of link building every day. If these rankings go it will be another uphill task to get the ranking back.
One thing is positive,my PR is still 5,this hasnt gone down to 0 which should have been the case if they banned the website.

Even though I have given a reconsideration request I will wait till Xmas to see if they r back else I will start working to get them back.

I certainly hope so. This is certainly not what I wanted in my client Xmas stocking this year.

FYI, my two sites above ranked well for keywords that had their total site result values in Google recently severely adjusted downward. In other words, a keyword query that was returning 50 million+ results last week, today is only returning 5 million as an example. This is very interesting, I am curious if this could have affected my sites in any way since this is quite a shake-up on presented search results.

Anyone have a comment on that?

I'll be honest, I just don't understand why you would want to submit a reconsideration request immediately, if you still aren't sure what the problem may have been in the first place?

As in my case right now, I wouldn't want to consider submitting a reconsideration request at all until I had at least "some" idea of what the problem may be. Certainly not before the end of the month.

Anybody else have some thoughts on the "timing" of a reconsideration request?

yeah may be it was too fast.
when i discovered the problem within 30-45 minutes I had sent the request. Never ever faced such an issue before hence panicked.
Am more settled now and patient that things will work out fine in 2-3 weeks time. Hopefully.

superbitz, can you describe your link building efforts for those two sites? Could it have anything to do with that?

The link building efforts for the "novell groupwise" had just commenced on 12/3 after having the client take the previous 30 days off from doing any link building at all. I hadn't even accumulated more then a couple of new links so far this month before I noticed the problem yesterday.

As for the second "debt management" site, they had been late with their Dec. budget so again, total campaign efforts for them hadn't even been active for more then a few days or so before this last update. Further, after Google's crackdown in October (neither of these sites were affected then) I eliminated the use of "sitewide links" completely as part of my link building efforts for all our client sites..

I am confident the link building has been in the slow, deliberate natural manner that would be most effective for sites like these. Again, they already were very strong before I came on board. I haven't done anything drastic that would change that. I have no reason to lie, I am sincerely baffled as to what the problem may currently be.

I hold out hope that the sites will both just "pop back in" but I never have put much stock in "Christmas Miracles."
