i decided to write my own directory script... :) spent a good 2 months writing the script in my free time...

i think it's pretty decent... example of features can be found at http://www.indexscript.com/features.php. also, the main site http://www.indexscript.com is itself a clean install and can as such, can act as a 'demo'...

the script is free for download at http://www.indexscript.com/download.php. all i'm asking for is for you to keep the 'powered by' link intact.

an unbranded version is also available for a price ($19.99). if you like it, maybe you can help support the site by listing your url in the directory for $4.99. i can also help you install and customize the look for a fee.

    thanks for your time.

I have been downloading and reviewing directory scripts the last couple of weeks. I will add your's to queue. I intend to write a summary article when I am done to bring all my key impressions into one location.

thanks! looking forward to see the review...

    thanks for the suggestion...
    1. the server that indexscript.com is hosted has got use_trans_sid set on for sessions - so you see the unfriendly php session ids. if you download the script and install it on your server, you shouldn't see the php session id in the url
    2. yah, mod_rewrite is in the list of improvements i have for the script... :)

Nice and clean, great build in <div> css style, heads up!

Are there options for free, paid and premium listings in your script?
Unlimited categories? and unlimited dept of categories?
    Are the listings sorted alphabetical?
Detail pages for the listings? with more information about the listing?
    mod_rewrite would be nice.
And create for every category individual metas and keywords.

Great looking for a start, the directory seems pretty fast.

    Good luck!

yeah, i initially thought of using tables but css would be much easier for others to customize the looks and feel...
options are available through the use of pay_options in the admin panel... it's not just fixed to free, paid and premium... you can basically create any number of options...
yes... there is an unlimited depth of categories...
yes, in the admin panel, you can select alphabetical or by submit date...
hmm... ok... one is not there yet... will think about including it for next release...
yup... everyone says so... will definitely include this in next release...
at the moment, it's for the whole site... will think about including this in next release...
thanks for all the feedback... :)

Also, an option to have images placed next to the catagories like they have with the phpdirectorylinks.

I'm using a modified version of it at http://z-blackfox.info and it seems to work great. I'm kind of dreading how difficult it's going to be moving to V2 though. We'll see how it goes.

It's CSS based so customizing the layout is a snap...just a matter of taking the time to fine tune it.
