I am so happy, Google is finally updating image search. My website has only 10 images indexed for the past 2-3 months and overnight Google has indexed an extra 30 images. My website is SEOed and is a wallpapers website, so my images rank well. Yesterday Google image search brought me 400 uniques, today it has brought 1500 and the day is but half over! I am very happy about this update, I guess I should monetize those sub-pages, or do Google image search visitors have too low conversion rate to be safe?
It is now bringing 100 visitors per 15 minutes, which would be 10,000 per day...cool. Thanks to you all above.
Bare in mind Google images traffic is not steady. You might get traffic from 1-7 days, but typically it stops there, unless you are an authority in the area. Hapenned to me... a lot of times tbh.
Good call shenron... I have noticed flaky Google Images traffic too. I never got enough to estimate the conversion rate, but it doesn't seem like the best strategy to optimize for this.
I have top 10 rankings in the normal SERPs for many keywords and I hear image search is easier to rank for, so I expect to rank highly. At least I can't do any worse than before the images were indexed.
I've had another 2000 uniques in the past 6 hours. Hopefully more of my images will be indexed by tomorrow, only 1/4 are indexed at current.
Congrats! Google STILL needs to work on images... I always end up going to flickr instead, but it's good to see they're making progress!
