Official Facebook Application thread

alright we al know facebook has started to become the most powerful social site on the internet and yes i said most powerful. its starting to crush myspace in recent months. if you are a web developer and are looking to expant your profits, exposure and traffic facebook applications is where you need to start to look. i am currently running 8 applications with 3 more on the way in the next week and i must tell you the viral traffic is unreal. if you have a popular blog make a facebook application that posts stories fro your rss to peoples profile. its done wonders for blog in increasing traffic and revenues.

i would like everyone who has apps or doesnt have any to come to this thread share their questions and experiances here. if you have a questions about facebook applications i can answer 99.9% of them. so bring it on!!

 

Congrats on your Success.. I have a simple question.. how do you make an application? i know this is kind of silly but i really wanna know.. Could you explain it?

 

well basically the coding is php5. there are other ways to make simple apps such as rss feed apps ect.

one is magepierss (google that). im not affiliate with them in anyway. i personally write all my own facebook apps etc. thats just a simple site that will get your blog into facebook.

 

does anyone else have any concerns with regads to facebook?

 

What would you think is the best ads to use in your facebook app... While using the facebook application construction, can the site go back to my site. Can it use my databases etc..??

 

A FB app is just a normal (PHP/Java/whatever) application; you can choose between Iframe or FB native. Start something simple with iframe and then build out to FB native (which is a simple HTML/JS dialect).
It works; some apps are doing great, most others aren't. Would be nice to see a thread talking about what would be great to do on FB

 

How about people don't tell what would be great. So others don't try to copy .. Thanks for answering my questions. So im guessing I can use the info I get off of facebook onto my database?

 

the key is to get something that can work in a viral way. ie gift apps etc.

PHP huh? I might take a look into it, I'm fluent in some older libraries of PHP, I want to see if I can scrounge something together. Thanks for the lead.

I see that before you can submit your application to the main facebook apps directory that you need a least 5 users. Could you just create 5 separate profiles and use them to add the app?

Yeah you can, but you might be banned (I was the first time); make sure you create 'real', complete profiles via proxies. But you can get 5 friends to join your app right?

 

How do you monetize this?

 

i monitize my apps by adsense. i started with cubics since they pay per impression but i noticed as my apps got more installs and active users on cubics my impression went down and so did earnings. to be honest that seems like a scam to me, so i swithed to adsense.

do you guys know any other programs that pay per impression?

 

I am building a facebook application right now, it should be done within 2 weeks.

i am very interested in this because i realize that facebook is the next traffic generating site. myspace is old and out the door.

 

its interesting that you say that. myspace is still #1 in terms of traffic etc but facebook is right on its back. so i would say yes its the time to start to focus on ways to make money with facebook.

 

Hi Benpol thanks for this great write up im trying develop some apps but to find programmers has been a very big headache for me. Most of them i will pay and will never hear back from them. Would you like to know more about my apps so we can do it together? I'm not a programmer though but i have great facebook app ideas.
