From a technical standpoint, it wouldn't be terribly difficult to determine the context of a program (or even a part of a program) since you can just pick up the closed captioning text (which Google is already doing).

But why should we...
... pay Google to be a middle man? I have to wonder what's the price differential between the winning bid and paying the magazine directly to run your ad. It's a question of supply and demand. Currently there are only a limited number of magazines available while I suspect there are many more interested advertisers.

Ok, bids in on two publications. 1/4 & 1/2 pages ads.
I doubt I'll win this time around. Even though my bids are slightly above fair market value I'm willing to bet this first round will see some inflated prices due to it being the first public test. You get zero insight when you bid so it's a complete shot in the dark. |
