how best to redirect a long keyword rich domain to a short one

I have a problem with my short domain. It is a llnn.com domain (or is it lldd.com, I can never remember), which is very memorable but my PR person has told me there is a problem with it when the site is quoted in the press. The major problem is that publications usually only publish the company name which is llnn in the link at the bottom of the article page, and because it is so small it is not really easy to click or see.

I am thinking of using another domain for PR's which is llnn-keyword1-keyword2.com to redirect to my original llnn.com domain.

    1. Is this is a good idea, or will I just cause chaos?

    2. How should the redirect be done, cname, 301, 302, etc..?

    3. Where the link is being displayed are major newspapers so there is some major linkjuice coming through, will a redirect kill the benefits or not?

Thanks for any help in advance.
