Hi, I've received a few emails from gmail members asking me to link exchange with them. Obviously I had no attention to reply on these emails (you'll see I have no OBL on my blog), but it made me think about it and I don't understand people using their gmail accounts to exchange link so I decided to call everyone in the SEO biz that still uses gmail services to simply BAN GMAIL. I would like to know what do you think about it?
if you use gmail to link exchange for example.... google can easily find your site and the fact that you're link exchanging. You can guess their next step from there.
I also love Gmail. I use it for my personal email and also as my business email with the address like
and you're not worried that google will ban your sites for buying links / selling links / exchanging links or anything else? I love gmail too and use it for my own private mail account, but doing SEO you must rethink it, no?
i use gmail a lot.. big help for me.. but y ban it for doing link exhange?? i dont use the email though i use it for chattin.. gtalk.. i use my own email for link exchange..
I've never thought about the allegedly sinister side of Gmail, but I don't like it when people use Gmail - or Yahoo, or Hotmail for that matter, for business. I much prefer people to use an email account tied to their domain if they want to do businses regarding that domain - it just seems so much more professional that way.
Gmail is great, but for business I use my own domain name email. It gives you so much more credibility.
Only excessive link exchanging is prohibited. There's nothing wrong with a little exchange here and there. I think perhaps you're being a little paranoid.
Those link exchange emails are spam mail mate. I had one saying he really loves my site and wants to exchange links with his site. It was sent to an email address that has nothing to do with any website. Just mark it as spam and then delete it.
I do love gmail . Since 2005 I am using it but yes I am using yahoo since 2003 so I am much comfortable with yahoo when I do Link exhchanges
Hmmm Ethics say, For link exchanges, Personalized e-mails are better. Professional ethics say, if you are using a free e-mail account provider for sending e-mails related to your profession, its not good. An e-mail sent from your business E-mail ID made up on the same domain as your website is on is always preferred and puts up a good impression.. Okay lets talk Gmail, Well people just need any thing, A mail account, to get the requests rolling..nothing, and literally nothing, is there to stop this.
a year ago G only allowed some "mobile people" to have Gmail so I never try to apply it again. are you guys sure now Can I have a Gmail account ? ???
I agree with ZachW and lovekills_s. I also love Gmail but only for personal use. I always use emailID@domainname.com for professional works. BTY I don't think Google will ban any website if you use Gmail for link exchange.
