If you take a closer look, you will notice that nine different domains have the exact same recipe and text build up.

It seems that MSN doesn't care too much for content dupe filters yet, or..?

At least it seems obvious that one person is operating all nine domains.

Not doing much good for the SE user to find nine identical websites listed as number one to nine.

Yes I have seen this numerous times on MSN. Silly, isn't it? I emailed MSN every time I have found this and they haven't done anything yet.

But seriously, it does sound like a bit of a waste of your valuable time writing emails notifying them about this algo-behaviour.

I would suspect that either they are already working intensely on modifying the code for next "update" anyway, or that they just won't care until public opinion puts enough pressure on them to make changes.

It's probably not that easy to change anyways.

Maybe if we all took the time to post findings of this sort of misbehaviour
in order to publicly announce the shortcomings of the MSN search engine.

Do you think that would help any? I mean, we are upwards of 7.500 active members in here, last I heard.

I don't agree with that. A good 23% of my organic traffic still comes from MSN. I think it's a good source of traffic still. It's nearly double my Yahoo! traffic, but half of my Google traffic.

Its not a lot of traffic, but its enough to want to get. I want SE traffic to be more even between the big 3, so that I am not more reliant on google than yahoo and/or msn. A better algo at yahoo and msn will help that along.

Yes, that tactic works on google too. You can have 100% identical content as long as the registrant names differ. Seems to be a nice little flaw in the system

What you're telling me is effectively that affiliate websites (or websites with identical content) which are usually on different registrants unique domain names, would not be punished for duplicate content...

I find that hard to believe.

I can't see Google basing there duplicate content filter on regristrant info....most duplicate content isn't from the same person, it's from various website owners using the same articles, etc...

...I'm sure it's Google's intention to stop not just the registrant from using duplicate content but ensuring that results for all sites aren't using the same content.

Mike, I do consider MSN to be one of the major players. Even getting 10% traffic from them is 10% more than I had.

Talking about owning searches, search for spyware removal on msn. Top domains are type of format. Never checked it out, but I bet they are owned by the same people.

It's a sad day for a SE when customers have to go past the top ten for everything due to this complete stuffing of irellevant s***
