How would you market a proxy? I'm trying to market my new proxy http://ticksurf.com and I need to know what places to go to and how to go about it. Has anyone got any advice and tips?
Well except china, i was thinking of countries in develop, like Serbia were i live Never mind if its bad for adsens i will find another way to make money, traffic is money, not adsens. I just need some info, anything, someone who made proxy not only for english speaking countries... ?!
Make it load quicker, and promote it to warez communities. Your best bet to get thousands of hits. If your in highschool spread it secretively to one of your friends, I'll get around the school in a week. Then just wait til it gets blocked . A lot of hits though .
Heh, has anyone gotten a proxy to the front page of Digg, and how much did that bring in? I'm looking at paying for it, could be interesting...

there are some fairly bad ideas here First off, non english speaking countries aren't good news for your proxy. Most advertisers aren't interested, and you can get smartpriced by google as well. Secondly, encouraging abuse to your proxy is a bad bad idea. So promoting to warezing groups is a bad plan as well. At best, you'll see excessive bandwidth use as they try to download large files via your proxy. You could also see abuse complaints forwarded by your hosting provider, and possibly get your site shut down or have to talk to the police. Finally digg is good, but it won't be worthwhile to try to cheat the system. You'll just end up getting your site banned from digg. I don't know how well it works anymore, but a couple sites that ended up front page in early 2006 are now very well established and high traffic. Now, did they get front page because they were good proxies on their way up anyway? Or did they become popular and steady because they got front page? Who knows.
