Butterfly Marketing

I just got an email spam about a course on Butterfly Marketing. I've never heard the term before, does anybody know what it is?

Its basically more new age stuff about turning your potential customers (caterpillars) into actual customers (butterflies)

Its basically a retread of old ideas made fresh my metaphors

You'll be seeing a lot of this stuff as the "usual suspects" (Cody Moya, Willie Crawford, Jeff Walker and a host of "Internet Warrior Forum" type marketers are trying to build the hype for this. The last thing I remember seeing them all jump on like starving dogs was some course called the Product Launch Formula.

They have at least one big thing they all shill every one to two months.

One thing I will say in their defense is that the "spam" email you got was most likely something you unwittingly opted in to. Most of these guys are very dilligent about their opt-in lists and don't want to deal with the hassles that come with actual unsolicited emails. Not that that means the product is any good, though.

It's funny, the more and more you read about marketing, the less such emails seems worth their weight. For n00b's, yes, but give mea seth godin's book any day. Don't need much else.

I found this on a site that is already building hype for the product:

Quote:
There is TONS of buzz around the ‘net about Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing launch. However, the biggest question seems to be “What is Butterfly Marketing?”

Well, I’m here to answer that question for you. I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy, and I read the ebook cover to cover and listened to the recorded calls multiple times. The information I picked up inside will help me make a TON of money in the coming months! Actually, I added many of the features he talks about to my functionality document for my project Codname: Torrent.

So, to answer “What is Butterfly Marketing?” - Butterfly Marketing is a theory. It’s the belief that one small change somewhere in the world (even as small as a butterfly flapping it’s wings) can change the course of the future. There was a movie called “The Butterfly Effect” a few years ago about this same theory.

Mike applies that theory and discusses how to make a small change on your website and turn your site into a viral marketing machine. Mike is a master viral marketer, and his sites keep growing and growing because of their viral nature. He actually takes you through a case study of each of his sites in this package, and lets you know what kind of a conversion rate he’s getting on them.

He also talks about pre-launch, launch, and post-launch marketing that you need to do to make your site keep bringing in the money.
Seems the name has changed...the information will be rearranged...but it will be more of Mike Filsaime’s techniques. I'm not saying his techniques are not worth it, but do we need to pay $997 to read them again?

Are you newbies beginning to see how these gurus get rich?...LOL...Invent your own product...hype it up like it's the best thing since sliced bread....get your other guru buddies to write orgasmic testimonials....convince people this will change their lives forever like it's the ten commandments....jack up the price so it seems like it must be good if they are charging that much.....get a bunch of hungry affiliates who want to turn a fast buck off the backs of other struggling marketers....then, sit back and collect money for a few months while you come up with your next big product that will "change the marketing world". It's an old story.

Jim

The first way to get rich is to be the one to find the gold. If you missed that boat, be the one selling picks and shovels.

Mike is actually a pretty good guy...he definitely makes his living selling the "how to make money stuff"...

No I'm not going to by Butterfly marketing...but I think if one were to buy it and follow what's in there...you'd definitely set a path towards making some money.

I think it's more for those who haven't figured out how to get focused and create an income online.

Yes, Mike is a pretty good guy, but there are plenty of other good sources out there...whether you are new or seasoned...that don't cost $997. That price is obsene just to hear it all again.

$997

OBSCENE!

LOL

Yeah, the so-called gurus all take monthly turns at the latest overpriced product.
But each one will sell enough of the butterfly to make it worthwhile to them.

Now in my experience, just wait a few weeks for the hype to die down.
Then go to ebay!
Someone will be selling it there for pennies on the dollar.

Wait for reviews (honest) on the product.
Someone will buy it, dissect it, use it, etc.
Then write their experiences, good and bad.

Too True! Wait and pick it up for a song, if the product gets decent reviews. Better yet, wait two years and Cody Moya will give it away free for joining his list.

I don't disagree that these things get way overhyped and the hype is along the lines of...."push this button and the money will fall from the sky" .

My opinion is that most of the hype on this product is not actually coming from Mike himself, but from the affiliates all trying to cash in on it.

Is $997 to much? I can't say, the fact is, is that most people who buy products never actually use them to their full extent. I know I'm not willing to spend that much on something I haven't heard reviews on...

Yeah, he creates new pages constantly, with a ton of hype on them, and then gives you a bunch of outdated stuff.
I give him a year outside before he either prices it at $27 or does give it away.

New email

Just got an email from a marketer who is actually NOT pushing butterfly!
Can you believe that one?
He makes several good points in his email about butterly that everyone should read:
Hello Joe

I'm getting hammered with affiliate emails for Mike
Filsaime's "Butterfly Marketing" promotion.

I'll bet you are too.

I've also received several dozen inquiries asking for my
affiliate link for that package.

And I do appreciate that level of loyalty from good friends
who would prefer to buy through me.

However - I will NOT be promoting that package.

-------------------------

If you really need the Butterfly package, and you're in a
position to actually put it to use ....

then there are dozens of affiliates out there who are even
offering their own "bonus" packages and other incentives.

All you have to do is "delete your cookies" and buy through
one of their links.

But BEWARE!

Just in case you've already been hypnotized by the High
Powered promotion that is surrounding the Butterfly Package ....

I want you to *WAKE UP* and *THINK* .... before you whip
out your credit card and go a thousand bucks in debt.

First of all .... answer these questions to yourself:

#1 - are you just looking for a "magic pill?"

#2 - do you have the skills to USE the product?

#3 - what do you expect the product to DO for you?

I haven't seen the Butterfly Marketing package, and I'm not
in a position to render any opinion on it. For all I know,
it may be worth 10 times the $997 asking price.

And I'm certainly not knocking Mike Filsaime - or any of
his affiliates. Mr. Filsaime has released some outstanding
products in the past .... and I'm sure he will continue
doing just that for a long time to come.

So don't misunderstand my point here.

I simply want you to think about your own motives before
you make a serious thousand dollar investment.

If you do buy the Butterfly Marketing package, I want you
to do so from a level-headed and objective decision making
process .... and NOT because of emotions or hype.

Keep this in mind ....

A person who lives in an apartment complex has very little
use for a $5000 John Deere lawn tractor.

I actually signed up to listen in to see if there was anything interesting. Then I realized it sounded pretty focused on email and building your list so never bothered.

And, the beat goes on.....On another forum where I criticized this, Cody Moya jumped in to defend Mike. Sure, I would too if I stood to make out like a bandit.

I don't see any unconditional return policy. Otherwise I'd at least order it to see what it's all about and post my thoughts.

After getting way too many of their emails the last 24 hours I looked at some of their web pages, and recognize some of the names of ppl that you have mentioned above....

To sum it up I think its all about writing an ebook...giving it away cheaply in order to get ppl to sign up to your mailing list, and then emailing them whenever somebody comes out with a similar product that you are an affilaite for......

do I have the gist of it?

You got it!

Yep, the whole idea of freebies!
Get subscribers...
Why you see every year giveaways like the 12 days of christmas, 117 christmas gifts, etc.
You offer something free, to get the freebie, the person has to sign up for your newsletter.
Then if you are like most of the people giving away freebies, you then bombard the crap out of your subscribers with offers.
Why I use a throwaway email for these.
My gmail is always overloaded with offers from every known person on the net.
