I was under the assumption that this information can not be made public, but it looks like it has been by Loren at http://www.searchenginejournal.com/index.php?p=2819 1. Improvements in Relevance : The ads that are shown by YPN are based upon what Yahoo calls its ‘matching expert’s. These ‘experts’ will be expanded to include : * Contextual Engine : Targeting based upon the content of the page * Ad Targeting : Publishers can “tag†their own site by defining their ad targeting category in the YPN admin * User Data : Behavioral targeting or profiling (geographic & demographic) 2. Wire Service : Offering publishers payment via direct deposit this Spring 3. Expanding Invitations : Continuing on reviewing and approving thousands of high quality web publishers 4. International Rollout : Global expansion beyond the United States to English and non-English speaking countries 5. Yahoo Search Box : Publishers can add Yahoo Search to their site which will pay publishers a percentage of sponsored search revenue 6. Integration into Yahoo Answers : Yahoo may be offering its registered users the ability to earn revenue or points for contributing to Yahoo Answers and other user generated content offerings.
Great find! Good Stuff. But, I guess we are still stuck with 50 channels? Increase the number of tracking channels to 100 is the #1 wish on my list. "... will be expanded to include : * Contextual Engine : Targeting based upon the content of the page." Aren't we supposed to have this now? Clearly, this is what needs to be improved the most! And now they are saying that they are about to include it?!? "Ad Targeting : Publishers can “tag†their own site by defining their ad targeting category in the YPN admin." This does nothing for sites which cover many subjects - I need to be able to tag, and target, EACH PAGE, just like Google, and not the ENTIRE site! For example, visit the site in my sig, and you will see that ANY SITE TAG would be too specific, inadequate and inappropriate (blood pressure vs. SEO vs. Religion Followers vs. amino acids, etc.). Being able to "Tag" my "site" sounds like a step backwards in the targeting battle, by "type-casting" what my site is about, and missing the diverse contextual targetting which exists on each page. Direct deposit will be great!
All looks good... Relevancy, Direct Deposit and Search Box are all things that would make me use it more.
DP, can you please add an option for us to add our YPN ID so we can get paid like ADSENSE users do.... know what i mean? thanks!!!
I think relevance has already improved. I complained about some specific "trigger words" that were setting off irrelevant ads on my sites, and within a few days it seemed to be resolved.
So, it's going global soon, huh? Two questions: 1) this means we'l get paid for international clicks now, right? 2) do you guys think we'll be seeing a decrease in earnings per click now that it's going global?
and 3) do you think the category targeting will be toned down and, instead, it'll look at content more? Personally, i love how I can pick a category and get the respective ads. It works very very well for my site.
I don't get the limits on channels. They must suck a lot of bandwidth or something. I mean, Yahoo and Google give away 2GB email accounts like it's nothing. You'd think it wouldn't be a big deal to offer 500 channels to track ads with.
i definetely believe international markets are gonna decrease revenues. Especially those spammers and cheats from 3rd world countries. Yahoo are opening up pandoras box by letting in ALL foreign countries they should do a staggered roll out and only let certain other countries in first! Ill be watching my campaigns closely and checking out my CPC and CPM's with a magnifying glass!
